LEGAL Question - any Aussies know about AUSTRALIAN Adult Online Publishing laws?
Is there anything in Australia along the lines of the UK's obscene publications act?
A partner in the UK has transferred all his adult domains to me as they are putting people in jail over there for publishing hardcore bondage sites and the like (not that his were, just he's paranoid), under the OPA. It's just ridiculous the lengths they are going. He supposedly has to put his address on all websites he does, and he's not about to do that seeing he works from home. What is the deal in Australia? I've not seen any laws stopping me setting up sites hosted offshore in the US / Canada, with sponsor content. I've not given a toss for over 7 years here, but is there anything I need to watch out for? |
Hmm, there's a bit on here, but nothing too much to worry about from the looks of things: http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_90169
Pretty much anything ok in the US is ok here. |
I'm in Australia (Perth), had a paysite running now for over 4 years. Got an accountant, run it under a company name, never had any issues, the accountant knows what I do, he even checked up regarding the legality aspect of it at the beginning and everything is all good.

Thanks AdultMovies.bz. I'm doing nothing that isn't fine in the US, the sites are all housed in the US / overseas, the content is all legal, whois details all private on the domains that might be a bit iffy.
I haven't found anything out there that goes anywhere near the legal nightmares of working in adult out of the UK. Those guys are getting screwed royally :( |
