online books and literature haven't caught up with the internet age yet

I was just searching around for Steppenwolf by Hesse and was surprised that it was impossible to find any kind of online version.... of course you can buy the paperback from Amazon for pretty cheap, but in this modern internet age it seems like we are far behind in having works of literature available to read on the net.... perhaps the book is still protected by copyright (not sure, it is 80 years old), but even then the publishers should make their books available in online text for a small price.

just seems like we've come a long way but other than porn and a million sites on paris and britney news, the net has a long way to go still :2 cents:

I would actually hate to sit by a computer-screen to read a book.

Kindle has almost anything, but guess what? Can't get them for the computer... drives me nuts. If anybody knows of a hack for that, please let me know.
