LinkEX - Bad or Good?
 

Ok, I've heard this from 4-5 SEO's now to not use LinkEx or trade hardlinks with anyone using them.

I've been told by SEO's that google will drop/penalize my site for using LinkEx, and if I trade with sites using linkEx and I don't but rather use html links to provide the backlink, I'd be giving the site I trade with a quality backlink while not receiving a good one in return.

Is any of this true. 9 out of 10 sites doing link trading are using LinkEx from what I've seen and this limits me if I'm not going to accept these sites.


I saw the LinkEx thread in the "trade forum" and it looks like its one of the biggest threads on this forum. I asked several adult seo's why everyone uses LinkEx if google penalizes sites that use it and these SEO's stated "that people are just dumb asses and don't know any better"

Anyone have good rankings for "keywords" or "keyphrases" that are using LinkEx or anyone with good knowledge on this subject.

Just don't use it and stop asking questions...

There are people out there that have experience with linkex and I'm sure that they could offer some insight, and not just for me but others on this forum as well.

I have a #1 ranked site for a single keyword and i use linkex on that site

I think the hatemongers use that "Google will drop your SERPs" line too much. I use it on my sites - I don't see the big deal here.

If you think anyone is going to tell you what keywords they rank for on their sites -- your dreaming.

Use it on one site, don't use it on another site, see what the results are overall, make your decision.

No point in asking anybody, and no reason anybody will tell you. (This includes the so called experts, be they seo or otherwise.)

Anyone who has some knowledge of search engines will definately see ways to get quality links using the script. But I think the margin for error for anybody else is greater and has more tragic consequences then just not getting listings.

A Webmaster who knows little about seo can generate a bunch of hardlinks through networking and oldschool emails or webforums, and at worst, he may end up with a handful of half-assed links.

The same webmaster installs a script like this (thats rarely hidden or set properly) and sets it on autopilot, but only after spamming his hardlink on the other 200 link ex sites he found in the "link ex trade post". If at any time, any sort of repurcusion happens due to the autoadd features of the link system, their sites are doomed.

I have spoken about what I thought the dangers of such scripts was(in the thread spoke of above), and how so many of the users are just blatent spammers, but I think its important to understand, its the USERS that make it dangerous. If common sense is used to monitor and aquire your links then you will be ok.

IMO, any "auto add" link script is just a grey area that google hasnt rolled public updates on, when they do there is going to be a major serp shift, and all these spam sites ranking now with their cheap backlinks will fall just like all other ways have in the past.

Legitimate, hardworking, quality sites will maintain results longer then any other type of results. Even in this thread someone said it changes everyday.

You know what doesnt change that much? The guys who make good money off the engines, I see the same few guys dominating many terms much like they did 5 years ago when I started. Everything changes but quality will always remain top and dominate the laws of averages.

you mean like the tube sites and the rapidshare forums?

how else are true legit organic backlinks obtained these days? guys that have big networks of sites spread across ips or sites that have been around a long time and have old steady backlinks from years of trading, and then can use those to prop up their new projects/networks/manual link trades?.... the average internet surfer is not organically putting up backlinks to tgps or blogs, the only "hardworking quality sites" that are getting backlinks the way google 'wants/intends' for backlinks to be earned are pretty much the sites that are giving away all kinds of stolen content

the way I see it, "quality" as you speak of really means 'stolen content', and the other way is by glorified spamming (ie. backlinks through connections or their own networks)... there is no honest "content is king" in this business

....and thinking about it a bit more, why would google want to bother to "spank" those that are using linkex for link exchanges... they must be very aware that the whole adult category is nothing but a spam fest, and realistically the serps from top to bottom are contest for who can abuse the backlink system the most, not a heck of alot of it is based on relevance and true organic link growth (except for illegal tubes and file-stealing forums)

No I mean quality, not the tube sites, not the forums and not stolen content. How could you possibly misunderstand me saying quality, as stolen content?

I say "Legitimate, hardworking, quality sites" and you jump to point out my idea of quality is theft. Judging by your sig, I would say, you should be the last to even mention tubesites in a thread about "quality".

Why is it so hard to logically discuss this issue without turning it into a champion pissing match? Its almost impossible to even speak about it without someone turning into a raving maniac. (Speaking as one whose been the raving maniac at times)

I am the one that equated "quality" (as seen by google's eyes) with stolen content

quality in google's mind is what the surfer that is searching for a keyword is looking for, and the links are supposed to be (in google's perfect world) generated by the average internet user

you can make the most beautiful "quality" site of your own definition, and if it is not stolen content you are far behind those sites in the eyes of the typical internet user and they are not going to organically link to your "quality" porn site

I just needed to point out that "quality" in the way we generally think of quality means nothing in this game, and "quality" in the eyes of 95% of the porn surfers on the net unfortunately is not what is good for the industry, and those kinds of sites are the ones that are getting the type of non-spammed, non-link-traded, organic relevant links that google wants to believe the whole internet search engine experience is ideally about :2 cents:
