Adult Wiki + FSC + DMCA

In listening to all these people in the seminars at Internext that are being, or have been sued. Plus the legal discussion on dealing with conten theft, plus many other issues discussed it surprises me that one of these groups, or "bros" have not come up with an Adult Wiki.

Instead of all the legal bits and pieces held by the top tiers, or different groups, why not start centralizing it? You can start with putting how to deal with DMCA in there. How to knock out tubes from SERPS. Include all the other exciting tips on what a DMCA must include, the 'agents' for the differnt processors, rapidshare, and so forth.

Eventually, over time, you would have a massive DB for people who are clueless, new, or lazy to go to and start handling their DMCA. Or you could advertise those who do it.

Start addin in the netpond, and other significant articles, facts, best practices based on FACT not opinion.... just typing that makes me laugh.

Anyways, in a few years time you would have a resource that would build a better industry as a whole, which is what many in the seminars say they are trying to do. But what gets me, personally, is there is all this talk for the top tiers. Like they they are the only one's that matter, but it's not true.

If some mom n pop is sued in the Florida panhandle, the decision of THAT CASE effects us ALL. So if they are not following the Cambria list, or countless other things and legislation is passed in Polk County. It could effect us all.

The WIKI, for example, would cover things such as...

1. Cambria list
2. How to file a DMCA
3. How to knock tubes out of SERPS
4. Filing copyright
5. Who to contact for adult legal questions. Big AND small companies.
6. How to's, manuals, best practices
7. PDF's from seminars, and different subjects over the years
8. A master list of 'copyright agents' for differnet companies, Google, MegaUpload, etc.

Plus many other things. Those are just a few that come to mind. But it could be a nice resource for the LONG TERM. Most of us in this business are, or have, been in it for years. It is a sound investment for those who truly do care. Put your time and money where it will best serve us ALL.

:2 cents:

So whatcha waiting for?

A wiki is meant for a group of people to work on collectively.

You can start it and leave it open to people to fill in..

I had a similar idea a year or so ago, and never got round to doing anything more than setting up the shell for different content categories. http://www.pornsiteswiki.com

Media wiki is dead easy to set up if you want a wikipedia kind of site.

I do not have the time to run another site.

I could type or cut n paste shit on some things, but it would be better handled by the FSC or legalise folks.

I can only talk from experience. I am sure there are better ways to handle it.

That's a great idea and this would be perfect for the fsc or that piracy group that has formed.

That is what I was thinking.

I mean, I am hearing the same things in some of the seminars, and court cases. All of this is great, but what about people NOT at the shows? They should know these things as well.

Plus, this is a better way to get ALL of the industry on the same page. Not everyone reads, or follows XBIZ, AVN and so forth. But if there is some centralized DB to help everyone, or point to the lawyers who handle shit should someone get sued or whatever it would be best for ALL. Big and small.

People can share their own expereinces and processes. As well as unified forms, and things approved by legal that would be more centralized. Why not take their seminars, shows, and presentations and start building a WIKI for all this great info.

Whatever works "bro".

My main point was that there was a lot of good info in some of the seminars about the legal b.s. that would be helpful to those who did not make it to the show, or do not go to shows.

Those mom n pops, and smaller production companies ALSO are part of this business. If one of them are sued, and do not have the money for a defense, then THEY will also set the standard for the bigger fish, and rest of us.

I was simply thinking out loud about a way to TRULY help everyone.

You're missing the point toots.

The FSC and legal people at the conferences are already "talking" plenty. Why not centralize that in a WIKI for EVERYONE. Not just those who can afford, or choose not to, go to shows. That way you get a more unified source of info, and resource.

this is a great idea. i hope someone would like to fund it.

TheDoc 08-11-2008 08:22 AM

Not a bad idea, as long as people would actually add into it. Other than adding anything from seminars, the seminars in this industry are blah.

Well we could start with all these people who talk at shows adding to it. Then others who have experience in dealing with DMCA, copyright enforcement, as well as including the 'how to's, guides, and shit that have been posted on the board(s) over the years.

As well as the industry tools and resources. Paid and free.

Especially since there are so many lazy people who do not know how to use search, spend time doing a lot of reading, or posting 10,000 threads on the same subjects.

Yes. It would, over time, be a solid resource. Then people could start checking there, instead of trying to check 10-20 places looking for info. You would have it in one place.

Easier for enforcement of copyrights, as assembling a list of 'contacts' for some of these sites, offenders, and making things more centralized for........

"the best of the industry"....

that everyone keeps talking about.
