Who gives a fuck about the OLYMPICS?

Seriously, what a total waste of time.

Do you know what it did to Sydney? Ruin it. House prices are now trebled, there's too many people living here now, the standard of living for the average Joe has hit the skids, and it cost tax payers billions, which they will never get back.

Opinions?

(are like assholes, everyone has one :1orglaugh)

fallenmuffin 08-08-2008 12:04 AM

I'll probably watch it tonight just to see the opening bullshit. Then I'm off to the library to get a few seasons of some TV shows I need to caught up on. I love the library its like Blockbuster but it's free.. Mmm cheapness.

OG LennyT 08-08-2008 12:09 AM

the what??

Paul Markham 08-08-2008 12:17 AM

Because of Chinas stand on so many things I will not watch it at all and I hope all the people who pay a fortune for advertising make a big loss. It's all about business and the best way to hurt these people is not to buy their products.

Chinas record on human rights, trade, pollution and democracy made it a very poor choice to hold an event with the ideals of the Olympics. The Olympic Committee finally sold out. The fact countries over spend to show their balls are bigger than the previous holders balls is down to the politicians and the electorate.

CunningStunt 08-08-2008 01:04 AM

Same Paul.

I just saw a little of the pre coverage on the news, smog city as well, and promises of fundamentalist bombings - just marvellous.

Zorgman 08-08-2008 01:18 AM

I will watch the opening and the diving, everything else makes me tired.

papill0n 08-08-2008 01:25 AM

I don't see how what china does is any fault of the athletes many of who have trained for many years. I will be watching as much as i can :)

donkevlar 08-08-2008 01:37 AM

Same thing is happening to Vancouver... prices are becoming more and more unaffordable, the homeless are being pushed into the (formerly) nice neighborhoods.

All for one commercial sports entertainment event?

Fuck off.

sitesurfer70 08-08-2008 01:39 AM

Used to like it a lot when I was kid....I don't mind watching it when I have nothing to do...but I still can't forget the first USA Dream Team with Michael Jordan and gang played in the Olympics.....that was really so awesome to watch...:thumbsup

bloggingseo 08-08-2008 01:41 AM

I am definitely going to be tuning in. I enjoy the swimming, gymnastics, track and field etc

Sarah_Jayne 08-08-2008 01:48 AM

London is next and yet I am still behind it. I appreciate what these very dedicated people have done and how hard they have trained. It isn't their fault where it is being held and for a little bit I will smile and cheer for the athletes rather than wish for failure to happen around them.

I'll give a fuck to some horny nice looking girl, just for the Olympics. So yes, I give a fuck about the Olympics.

ilbb 08-08-2008 03:14 AM

I give a fuck....

nico-t 08-08-2008 04:40 AM

ive never given a fuck about it, dont know why. It doesnt have the same appeal as a european- or world championship football at all. In my eyes it's a second rate sporting event that's not interesting at all.

SuzzyQ 08-08-2008 04:45 AM

We could care less about the Olympics. We like the 'X Games'.

:thumbsup

I regard it the same as the issue of Canada's involvement in Afghanistan. I don't agree with our country being there, but I support our troops 100%.

hzoltan 08-08-2008 05:14 AM

I know that China is the devil, but our athletes prepared too much to ban the whole stuff...I'll watch swimming, handball, waterpolo, kayaking and the cute gymnast girls :)

Gotta agree with you on this. The athletes spent a lot of time training for this and they should not be neglected because of were the games are held. They did not pick the venue spot. :)

SomeCreep 08-08-2008 05:38 AM

The olympics rule. Gymnastics and swimming are awesome.

Agreed. Save the politics for political arenas, this is about friendly competition between nations, and a chance for the athletes to represent their country of origin on a world class stage.

In a lot of the events the Olympics is like the "superbowl" or world series of that sport.

I'll be watching for sure. Nothing at all to do with supporting China or rising cost of fuckinng real estate. :D

Sarah_Jayne 08-08-2008 06:07 AM

I am cooking a Tibetan potato curry for our meal tonight and I didn't even do it on purpose. I only noticed when I went to go set out the ingredients that I was unintentionally making a political statement.

Drake 08-08-2008 06:10 AM

I'll be tuning in

The Duck 08-08-2008 06:22 AM

I do, it's going to be awesome.

spunkmister 08-08-2008 06:40 AM

hope all you guys who want to boycott the olympics because its in china decide to throw away eveything that you own that is in anyway made there.

pornguy 08-08-2008 06:52 AM

I wont get much time to watch.

tranza 08-08-2008 06:53 AM

I do! And I intend to follow as much events as possible!

atom 08-08-2008 06:57 AM

I love the olymics! Swimming, Gymnastics, Weighlifting, Basketball and who can forget Womens beach vollyball :)

Seriously though, who doesnt like to see top athletes from around the world come together and compete against each other? Ive got the olympics set to record at all hours of the day right now so I don't miss anything.

Agreed. I checked out the opening ceremony out of curiousity but can't believe they picked china.

Unfortunately there isn't much choice when it comes to this.

96ukssob 08-08-2008 08:49 AM

some of the stuff is cool, but they were much better when i was a kid.

i remember one year my friends dad bought this subscription thru the cable service that gave you 3 non stop channels with olympics on

Scott McD 08-08-2008 08:51 AM

I don't give a shit about them.

Why do i care if somebody from the same country as me can run a fraction of a second faster that someone else ?? I don't.

Waste of fucking time, and money... :2 cents:

No such thing as "friendly competition", competition between nations = war.

Peaceful war? No way. Turn on the fucking tv. China bashing, 24/7.

Tom_PM 08-08-2008 10:30 AM

Olympics is the time to set politics and differences aside and come together to play the games.

I always enjoy it that way.

IMHO, the time to vote with your dollars is every other time except these games.

chelo - adultcopywriters 08-08-2008 10:32 AM

I liked them, what can I say?, it's entertaining. Besides, it pushes the human body to its limits. That is interesting, plain and simpe.

scottybuzz 08-08-2008 10:34 AM

Where the worlds most optimised athletes compete on a world stand? Noone gives a fuck, only a billion people.

The Olympics were originally intended in part to be the tonic to that very problem.

Way. It's called "sports".

Nowwhere in my post did I say people in general weren't stupid. Fact is they are, for the most part.

However, China does deserve a certain amount of bashing. What I find unfortunate is that the Olympics are so often made into the world's whipping boy for protesting things that have nothing to do with the games.

madm1k3 08-08-2008 10:54 AM

Steriod users competing in unbelievable amounts of smog, that good tv

Paul Markham 08-09-2008 12:19 AM

Anyone who thinks a nation spends 30 billion dollars in a non political event is clearly a few cards short of a full deck. Of course it's a political event. Not for the athletes, but they are bit players in a bigger production. This is all about "Look at how wonderful China is." Or it's $30,000,000,000.00 down the squatting crapper.

klaze 08-09-2008 12:30 AM

I care more about the Olympics than the American Election that's for damn sure.
