Holy Shit, Brett Favre is a NY Jet. Look out Pats

The Jets are the most improved team since last year IMO, and their biggest question mark was at QB.

Looks like they just answered that question.

nosey 08-06-2008 10:21 PM

sweet! :thumbsup

Snake Doctor 08-06-2008 10:27 PM

Sucks for me a little because I'm a Dolphins fan, but Favre will be retired (for good) by the time the Fins are ready to contend again.

Jets had a monster offseason getting Alan Faneca and Calvin Pace in FA (even though they overpaid for them big time) and drafting Vernon Gholston and Dustin Keller.

Favre to Coles isn't exactly going to be Brady to Moss, but it's going to be alot better than anything the Jets have had since Parcells left.

SEASON

Theres onlu ONE team in NY and they just won the SUPERBOWL

sweetcuties 08-07-2008 07:02 AM

Why doesn't he just retire and become a commenator like everyone else... he's gonna ruin his legacy :2 cents:

Scott McD 08-07-2008 07:13 AM

How much is he getting paid ??

Lycanthrope 08-07-2008 08:21 AM

He has already trashed his legacy with many a fan.

I mean DEVOUT fans from and around Green Bay that put him just under, if not above Jesus.

You don't state "I want to play for an NFC North team, preferably the Vikings, so I can play Green Bay twice a year" after you spend near two decades building yourself up to damn near god-like reverence in that very same place.

Fuck him. I hope that origami like offensive line of the jets gives up MAD sacks this year.

CDSmith 08-07-2008 08:26 AM

Wow, I thought he was bound for Tampa.

Well, anything is an improvement for the Jets. They may just be a contender this year.

Won't hold my breath on that though.

TampaToker 08-07-2008 09:59 AM

Dear god I hope not....what good would he do us?

We're not built to win this year and he's pretty much washed up. All he's going to do is take reps away from one of the young QB's they're trying to develop.

Hey he wanted to come back and play for the Packers. They told him it was Aaron Rodger's team now.
Rather than throwing a hissy fit about that and demanding a QB competition in the preseason, he said fine then let me go somewhere else. Here's my preference......

I'm totally on Brett's side on this one. The team handled this badly.

geedub 08-07-2008 11:30 AM

Definitely trashed the Wisconsin atmosphere. People here sport Favre tattoos, custom license plates and all kinds of other wack shit

TubeTitans_SusieQ 08-07-2008 11:30 AM

they've got nothing against the Pats ...Brett Cries ;)

Anphibius 08-07-2008 11:34 AM

Brett FArve has really tarnished his reputation with this whole debacle. First of all he has hurt the chances of Green Bay wining by continuing to say he is going to retire and then asking to come back, not allowing their young qb. Then he told the packers that he would only be traded to the Vikings, without exceptions. What an asshole.

Get ready for the NY media, Brett. Lets see how you react after throwing 3 ints in one game. This year he is going to face something he has never faced before: Crticism.

I"m just speculating :winkwink:

atom 08-07-2008 12:01 PM

I don't know if he is going to add that much to the team. He's better than Chad but lets face it, the last 5 games of his regular season was not that great.

He had some good QB ratings but wasn't throwing a lot. I really think Ryan Grant and Farve complimented each other perfectly. Thomas Jones and Favre? I dont think so..

Andy CHOOPA 08-07-2008 12:05 PM

I know some very excited people about that. Me I don't really care. Don't think they'll do anything notable this year.

That's not an accurate representation of how things went down.

The team demanded Favre make up his mind about the future before the official offseason started, so they could make plans. They should have given a guy of his stature all the time he wanted to make a decision.

They shouldn't have been shocked that he wanted to come back. A blind man could have seen this coming. They were the ones who told him he couldn't play in Green Bay anymore....so you think he should just accept a trade to wherever the fuck Green Bay wants to send him?
A guy who never missed a game for them...who played hurt, who played injured, who played the day after his dad died....who coughed up blood on the sideline and still came back to win the game for them?

Green Bay was the laughing stock of the league before Favre got there, they should have treated him better through this whole situation. :2 cents:

So that makes it ok for him to DEMAND to be traded to a division rival? And how is one player more important than an entire team? And btw, Farve did not even accept phone calls from the Jets a few weeks ago, saying he did not want to play in NY. Furthermore, he's been doing this shit for 3 years, saying he's going to retire then coming back. Fuck Brett Farve.

Good business move by the Jets though, it's easy to compete in a market with the Yankees, Giants, and Mets.

He didn't state a preference to play in the NFC north division to spite his fans and former teammates. He wanted to stay in the division so that he would be going against defenses that he was already familiar with. This is crucial at the quarterback position and Brett knows that he doesn't have a lot of seasons left in him and it takes some time to get to know your opponents. He would do better in Tampa Bay and a lot better playing for the Vikings IMO but it's probably better for the fans in Green Bay (at least through the eyes of Packers management) that he goes to an AFC team. Could you imagine if they had traded Favre to Minnesota or Chicago and he led his team to win the NFC championship? There would be blood in the streets of Green Bay for sure.

I know it won't happen, but.... wouldn't it be interesting if he ends up taking the Jets to the Superbowl?

ha ha

He never did that. I don't know where you're getting your information from but they're lying to you.
At no time did he demand a trade, at no time did he say he would only play for a certain team. Not even the Packers claimed that when they were trying to spin this last week.

He said he wanted to play football. When they told him they didn't want him in Green Bay, he asked for his release. They said they wouldn't release him, they would trade him, so he told them which teams he would prefer they work out a trade with.

The guy is a mother fucking football legend and still at the top of his game (2nd in MVP voting last year) and he's just supposed to go play wherever the Packers tell him to?

Not so much.

Eitehr where the packers tell him to or as a second string. The team and the team's future comes first. Btw I heard that other stuff here http://www.wfan.com/
