    Beheading on Greyhound - gets even more bizarre!

    Just heard on the six o'clock news that pieces of the victim's face in last week's stabbing and beheading incident in Manitoba were found in the stomach of Vince Weiguang Li, the accused murderer.

    He's now under suicide watch and has requested to be killed (we no longer have the death penalty in Canada, unfortunately).

    No online news source for further details...yet. Still looking.

                                                                                                                              It's wrong. Life in prison is a far greater punishment. Life without parole with some solitary confinement thrown in. Death is the easy way out.

                                                                                                                              On the other hand I do understand that the family might want to see the dealth penalty. In that case it should be the family that gets to kill the person. Let the family be the ones to do the lethal injections. I know if someone fucked with my family I'd want them dead too....but I should be the one to get the revenge. Otherwise life in prison in a cell with Big Bubba will do.

                                                                                                                                                      I used to take the Greyhound all the time when I was in my early 20s just like the victim. I slept on a lot of those rides too. It's just so random and unpredictable. For some reason you never imagine a small guy doing it either. Li is only 5'4" tall and 130lbs.

                                                                                                                                                      I guess you have to look over your shoulder now and never nap during bus rides

                                                                                                                                                      I wonder if this is going to lead to new bus checks like airport checks before boarding.

                                                                                                                                                                                          I believe the maximum penalty for anything in Canada is 25 years. You can get multiple life sentences, but they're served at the same time, not one after the other.. I might be wrong, or maybe it's changed, but that's what I remember.

We are actually individual people, each with a brain, operating independently.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  - I'm pretty sure most Canadians are not happy to pay for him to live for the rest of his life. Some of us would enjoy the death penalty, and try to get tickets from scalpers.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  - Can you confidently speak on behalf of every american cop about what they would have done? You really think a cop would murder this guy, on the spot, with a bus full of onlookers watching? They might WANT to, but I'm pretty sure they'd just arrest him. He had a knife, and was locked on a bus... Nobody elses life was in danger, so that would be... murder.
