What kind of bicycle do you own?

And... do you ride it?

I used to have a nice Sekine 10-speed many years ago, but it got stolen out of my back yard. In the spring of '97 I ordered a mountain bike that had a 6 speed automatic transmission, and have had it ever since. They wouldn't even ship to Canada so I had to have it shipped to my aunt's place in Minnesota, then drive down and get it.

I ride about 10-15 km per day, 3 or 4 days a week right now. I seem to be the only one here that has one like it, and people freak when they see that it shifts gears automatically. I love it.

What kind of bike do you have?

pornguy 08-05-2008 01:03 PM

A first Gen splitfram from Huffy. Heavy as fuck, but takes a beating well. Have not been on it much since my son was born.

DateDoc 08-05-2008 01:04 PM

I have a 1987 diamondback topanga. Was state of the art at the time I bought it, I spent a whole summer saving up for it by mowing lawns.

I need to get back into riding, running is taking a toll on my knee's. My wife has a Giant so I am gonna steal that and start riding it.

PR_Glen 08-05-2008 01:33 PM

I have a Forge Mountain Bike, it's the brand that no one is ever heard of and I love it when I'm out at the trails and people are always looking at it, wondering what it is. I'd never even heard of it until another bike suggested the brand.

No one's heard of Forge? They're sold in Target stores in the US... http://www.target.com/Forge-Sawback-.../dp/B000LWFEI0

Good reviews on them though.

TurboAngel 08-05-2008 02:25 PM

Good work on the P2C, I should have looked into that or a P3 but I fell in love with the Equinox right away!

justinsain 08-05-2008 02:44 PM

I used to have this Cannondale back in the mid 90s when my friends and I would go to Costa Rica.
Sold it and now I stick to the paved trails on my TREK Multitrack 7300.

It's too hot right now but I try to ride about five times a week.

I swear I'm not making it up. LOL. Ive brought to a couple different bike shops in different states and a few different mountain bike trails and ive yet to come across someone who has heard of it.

I love it though. Now, I just have to find some place to ride near where I moved to a couple of weeks ago.

baX 08-05-2008 03:10 PM

Not to be obtuse but I would have no problem riding her 5 times a day, nevermind a week. :D

My bike is great for hard trails and pavement too. I honestly can't find a thing I don't like about it. And I'm lucky enough to have some pretty great river trails right in my immediate area. Miles of them, both rough and city-groomed. I'm in heaven here.

Triple10Terry 08-05-2008 04:56 PM

I just got this bike over the weekend that new pimp shit!! Definitely a good work out!!

I have a Bianci road bike that never gets used.

Peaches 08-05-2008 05:50 PM

BIKE??! I can barely get the Jeeps up the road. :helpme

And no, I'm not going to put a bike IN a vehicle and drive it to ride somewhere :thumbsup There's a place in the burbs where you can ride/walk down an old railroad track (that runs right behind a condo I used to live in) and you can rent them - done that and love it. I've rented them at many, many different beaches too but haven't owned a bike since I turned 16 and could drive.

Spunky 08-05-2008 06:17 PM

I want to start riding but not sure what's a good bike to buy

Bird 08-05-2008 06:25 PM

Fuck I need a new one. Last one I had got stolen.

I think I may go for a specialized road bike on my next buy.

mynameisjim 08-05-2008 06:26 PM

Cool, if it's in good shape it's actually worth decent money. Quite a few old school BMX collectors out there.

Sebring Studios 08-05-2008 06:48 PM

Some years ago I had had an exceptionally good 'Adult Check' month and decided to reward myself with a decent bike. Bought an $800 mountain bike that was awesome but was stolen shortly after.

Just a few months ago I decided to buy a piece of shit bike just for some exercise and picked up a $100 Wal-Mart special. The thing is fucking incredible! I really can't tell the difference between the two. And if this one gets stolen, oh well...

I live right next to 15 mile section of paved trail that's going to connect with other sections around the orlando area. Makes it nice clip on the ipod and jump on the trail. I do a 12 mile section each time. The tires on my Trek are too narrow for soft dirt but it sure flies on the pavement.

Since this is your thread I'll post another pic taken that same day to help motivate you to get on that bike and ride :thumbsup

Some of these new mountain bikes with the big knobby tires and low low gears are so incredible you can climb a set of near-verticle stairs with them. I know, I've done it. I have no doubt they can handle your "road" Peachy. :winkwink:
