Some spammer is using my domain!

Some douchebag out there is spamming but using my mainstream domain. I only know because my email account is a catch-all, so all the bouncebacks flood my inbox.

Bad enough that my email is over quota, but someone is going to ruin my rep, and interfere with my legit business.

What can I do to stop my domain being used, and how do I find out who I need to strangle?

marketsmart 08-05-2008 12:44 AM

show me the email headers of the email they afre sending out...

btw what is your icq.... maybe i can help

Antonio 08-05-2008 12:52 AM

hahaha, relax, it happens to everyone, just chill, nothing bad is going to happen to you or your reputation, he'll give up eventually and start using someone elses domain

You can enable SPF on your domain name. Its not a guaranteed fix, but it could help.
You can read more about SPF at:
http://www.openspf.org/howworks.html
:2 cents:

are they uising your smtp server for sending out the mails> if so have the host restrict it to your ip only.

Well SPF is good beacuse it proves you dont send spam.Beside those spamers using only your domain for sending adress not smtp service on server.

I feel your pain. I have had the same issue with a mainstream domain for many years. The only problem I have had thus far is that my domain is blacklisted so any email I send from it gets blocked or labeled as spam.

He's suprisingly persistant. But I appreciate the kind words.

they're simply forging the headers, if they're actually sending the spam trough his address then his host would be all over that shit (normal host I assume not a dodgy one) and prevent it one way or another

I've had this happen to many of my domains and never had a domain blacklisted

but then again I can't blame you for the jail gay fantasies you're having, we all have them every now and then ............ wait, that's doesn't sound right :Oh crap
