Ajax is normally, but not always javascript with xml or mysql; however, I have seen it done with regular html :)

I kind of agree with StuardD that example is not really Ajax...

Javascript + CSS = DHTML

It's using jQuery, which can be used to give you some Ajax stuff, but in this case it's using jQuery for a CSS animation.

Regardless if its ajax or not, that site itself is pretty kick ass. The originating site I mean. Bookmarked. :thumbsup
