A single U.S. destroyer could take out all of Iran. Not to mention our submarines all of which could literally destroy the entire world.

The weapons system on any U.S. ship could successfully protect any oil tanker.

We've got very little to worry about.

The US does not really need to buy from the middle east. They can buy from other places.

Our warships carry a really cool, totaly automatic weapon as well, designed to destroy anti-ship missles and its really fucking effective. Its called the MK 15 Phalanx, CWIS or "Sea-Whiz"

If oil production in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates were to suddenly drop severely, oil would hit $1000/barrel in no time. Simply because there wouldn't be alternatives with enough capacity readily available, and speculators would be trying to hit the jackpot.

Compare it to an island with 4 people on it, including you, and only enough food to keep 3 of them from starving. How much would you pay to be one of the 3?

That won't happen, though it could skyrocket. If things got terrible, and I am not advocating anything for a second, but realistically if things got that bad the US would firstly release the Strategic Petroleum Reserves (giving them at least a few weeks to get things in line) and than would send troops into Iran to protect its oil production (they've drawn up plans for similar things in the past). $1000 would completely crash the world economy, I don't think they are going to allow a nation that spends 6 billion dollars a year on its military to achieve that, do you?

The real concern is what the false flag operation set up to justify the war will consist of.

If they are going to attack Iran after Obama wins but before Bush exits, then a false flag is a must. It's the only way to justify not waiting until Obama takes power.

The problem is that merely destroying a country does not drive up oil production, and when everyone in the country is against you, keeping the flow going is quite hard.

Things would stabilize after a while, of course, but it would take a few months.

$1000/barrel would crash the world economy, yes. That's why a large-scale war in the middle east would be a pretty bad thing.
