I am back from vacation (pics)

I am finally back from my vacation and ready to get back to work. If anybody has sent me an email or icq sine I was gone be assured I am working through the mountain and will be back with you soon.

In the meantime I thought I would share a few pics from the trip.

We decided to explore the UK a bit and we went to Liverpool, York and Edinburgh.

Liverpool:

My husband is actually from the Liverpool area and as my parents were over from the States and big Beatles fans we really mostly did Liverpool with them in mind and hit all the Beatles things for them. We started out at Albert Docks which is where many of our ancestors sailed from to the 'new world'. It so happened the Tall Ships were there at the same time. :

York

We have visited York a number of times and always enjoy it and since it was on the way to Scotland we stopped there for a few days. The big thing in York in the York Minsters which is stunning even if you don't have a religious bone in your body:

Great pics Sarah. How was the wedding?

Edinburgh

Neither of us had been to Scotland prior to this trip and we were a bit surprised by how much we liked Edinburgh. Edinburgh is a beautiful city full of character. We stayed right on the Royal Mile so we have a lot of access to the historical buildings. I had a bit of a fascination with the old graveyards which was very atmospheric (largely due to their age and disrepair) and had a lot of notable graves such as that of Adam Smith:

Thank you. It doesn't even do the Minster justice..it is massive and beautiful with it.

At least you got a nice bit of weather up here last week eh? Nice pics of Edinburgh.. did you check out the Castle? Been there a few times with various guests from the business. AaronM loved Edinburgh castle, too bad the guards didn't love him LOL.

It was 22 to 25 the entire time we were in Edinburgh. My folks kept saying how that 'wasn't really hot' until they finally experienced the joy of such heat in the air conditioning void that is the UK.

We stayed on the Mile on the end down towards Holyrood and Parliament (weird building in a beautiful setting). So, my exercise every morning was to walk up to the castle but I didn't go in because it was so crowded by the time it opened. Plus, the one time I was going to go in it was closed because there was a Girls Aloud concert being held there..lol. We are going to go back later in the year in the off-season and check it out.

I did discover that I actually like haggis...didn't try a deep fried mars bar though.

You go on the "Needs a Spankin'!" list for that. ;)

Totally got me, was doing multiple things and not paying much attention. Might not have caught it if I were paying attention though. :)
