How can I make money?

Here is an honest question to those pros in the adult world. As some know, I am currently producing a positive documentary on the adult industry. I have a blog set up on wordpress to communicate the current status of the project. Since this documentary is being financed by myself solely, I would like to minimize the amount of cash I have to invest in bringing this project to fruition.

The majority of costs will be travel related. Instead of attracting a benefactor and having to answer to someone else, how can I turn the blog into a way to make money off sending surfers to sponsors? Please forgive that I do not have the knowledge that many here do about how the entire sponsors, PPS, etc... work. I am a film maker, not an adult marketer or webmaster.

So if anyone has any ideas, please feel free to share them here or shoot me an email. I would be willing to work something out in regards to advertising or revenue sharing from the documentary.

Matt!

So your going to make a documentary about the adult industry but you have no knowledge of how to monetize your traffic in this industry?

I think your jumping the gun a bit here.... either 1. spend your money on networking with people at meetings and stuff and 2. run a few sites yourself and learn it from the bottom up - I think you'll find and learn a lot more when you do this hands on.

Oh and if this is a serious thread... MOST program owners and people in the know are not trolling forums like GFY on Sundays.... like most businesses, they might check in, but don't expect real answers today - bump your thread tommorow.

Good luck.

First of all, buy a domain, get your own hosting, something cheap from $4-10/month, install wordpress (from wordpress.org), find a decent free theme or buy one and start blogging.

Wordpress.com pulls anything remotely adult and affiliate related sooner or later, especially when it starts getting traffic...

Why would he need to know how to monetize traffic to make a film about the industry. Hell if he needs to learn every facet to make the film, it will take decades and shitloads of experience. I pretty much assume that a documentary film maker talks to and documents elements in the film and not perform them himself.

In otherwords if it was on the topic of drugs instead of adult, should he also know how to sling crack before filming about it?

The entire behind this documentary is to give the other side of the story that news reports refuse and fail to do. The idea is to present this documentary from an unbiased perspective. If it were a documentary done by someone within the industry then it could be easily written off as biased.

If I ran a few sites, then I feel it might compromise my integrity as well.

I do appreciate and thank you for your response and will bump this tomorrow.

Thank you for the heads up on this. I did not know Wordpress had software available to run independently. Mad props to you.

No but he'd likely hook himself up with someone who does.

He's a wannabee film maker not a webmaster.. Prolly can't even modify a simple wordpress blog for plugins and ads.. He's going to have to learn a whole new skill set and make a docu??

He needs to focus on networking for purposes of his documentary.. he can then build up a site around the hype of his documentary and use that traffic to make money..

Klaze, surely not a wannabe film maker. I have a lot of work to my credit, just not in the adult world. Does that make me a wannabe webmaster? Perhaps. Wannabe adult webmaster? Who knows.

The networking is there. The traffic is not just yet. Don't shit on those that are trying to fight for you like you do when those news reports fight against you.

These are how people make money... for the most part.

There are only a few way your going to make any money in adult mattsbeachhouse and such are: 1.) produce content 2.) buy and re sell or just sell 3.) technical support in regards to web service 4.) webmaster promoting associate programs... a.) SEO (black and or white hat) b.) buy traffic c.) steal traffic d.) barter services e.) networking for the purpose of trade

I don't think I've missed anything... ;)

Later,

:upsidedow

Sorry who is trying to fight for me against those negative news reports?

Not you obviously. Since you are more concerned with Pre-checked cross sales and blackhat marketing tactics..

That will do us a great service to make a documentary telling the "Pay Cable" viewers how porn sites are trying to rip them off! :1orglaugh :321GFY

bloggingseo 08-04-2008 04:18 PM

do your research, making money in adult is a no brainer. You just need to know where to find traffic that makes you an ROI--that's where the true secrets are

I dont know, then maybe you should stop those practices. You have very little idea how small a part of this webmasters are. The documentary is not focused about what morons are doing wrong in adult. Apparently you missed the entire purpose of the docu.

Ecchi22 08-04-2008 04:43 PM

Maybe kinda off topic but your blog needs some nice theme and more images.. Lots of text dropped on black background wouldn't attract readers even if they're really interested in the subject.

As someone above purposed, get domain/hosting, install wordpres, get decent theme and start posting articles that have some images/videos too. If you are film producer, make a use of it. Use your talents, there are no boundaries. Put some links & banners on your sidebar or include them in your posts. Try to experience something new, even if that's building adult website or blog (its not scary if shitloads of people are doing it every day) and post article/review about it. Link to the sponsors you were using, maybe some webmaster will signup under you.

Good luck :)

Ecchi22 08-04-2008 04:46 PM

And again, link some of the words in your posts. Blogs aren't paper sheets, "GFY" could be link to this forum in your latest post.

Ecchi22, thank you for the kind words of encouragement and suggestions. I do have a site being built currently and hope to have the new site up and running by early next week. Again, thank you for treating me with respect.

You are referring to things pay site and program owners do not the average webmaster..

So your documentary will have little to do with paysite and program owners?

Just stop with the bs bro.
