I didn't expect this: Brett Favre reinstated to active roster

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Brett Favre will be reinstated and added to the Green Bay Packers' active roster Monday.

The NFL announced the move Sunday after commissioner Roger Goodell had held off on granting Favre's request for reinstatement for nearly a week, hoping Favre and the team could resolve their standoff. By reinstating Favre, Goodell is following through on a recent promise to force action.

The reinstatement will become effective at 1 p.m. EDT on Monday.

Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, confirmed that Favre plans to fly to Green Bay on Sunday and report to the Packers on Monday.

Because he has never started an NFL football game and will struggle just like all new quarterbacks do. The Packers are really being stupid. They are putting Rogers in a no win situation. They should have welcomed back Brett with open arms or released him right away. Now the whole thing is a catastrophe. Rogers will almost certainly wilt under such extraordinary pressure. :2 cents:

All new QB's struggle? All?

I seem to recall a guy named Romo who came out of nowhere and did pretty well his first year.

I've read posts from some long-time packer fans that say Rogers will likely want to leave GB if they further postpone his career.

Send Rogers to the Niners - Alex Smith sucks! Plus Rogers went to Cal - right across the Bay in Berkeley.

That I could live with.

Btw, who was that backup QB that played a few for the niners last year and got them a few wins? I forget his name but he looked damn good.

hankphone 08-03-2008 01:46 PM

Favre is a fag

GetSCORECash 08-03-2008 01:51 PM

I want him to be traded.

Shaun Hill

Brett Farve will go in, "compete" for the starting job, not get it, ask for a trade again. They're just trying to delay the inevitable. I would be super pissed if I was Rodgers at this point.

That was Shaun Hill. Smith does not have the starting job yet this year. He, Hill and O'Sullivan are all trying to get it.

I agree that some QBs like Romo, Brady, Marino and Roethlisburger are able to play well right away. For every one of those there are ten others who's first season as a starter is pretty rocky. For a team that was in the NFC championship game last year I think it is a very big mistake to go with a first year starter. So many hotshot college QBs flame out in the pros. There is no way to really know how they will handle the pressure until they are the starter. His struggles are almost certain to cost them a few games and probably the playoffs.

Favre has balls, that's all I can say

Minte 08-03-2008 04:43 PM

All will be forgotten as soon as Brett tosses his first TD pass.

They're going to have to eventually.

The one point that was left out of this is that Favre IS reporting to the Packers today, HOWEVER, he's definately not wanted there. They're not gonna let him compete for the starting job, this is just Favre's way of pissing them off more. The Packers want him OUT of there, there's NO WAY they're gonna let him stay on the team.

My prediction is that by the end of the day, he's gonna be traded to either Minnesota or Chicago.

Yea but why do it one year after going to the NFC championship game? Does not seem like a good time for a rebuilding season to me.

This ought to be interesting

I think those are the last two teams the Packers would trade him too. They have lots of options. They could keep him around until the last day of pre-season then cut him, they could trade him, they can pay him and sit him on the bench and lots more options.

Actually, the Vikings apparently have interest in him and if they're desperate enough, as a last resort, they might be willing to actually send him up to Minnesota.
