WP plugin
Problem: Want to preload entries without it pinging until the actual date and time that the post goes live.
What's the best plugin to accomplish this? |
There used to be a plugin called WP Cron Futureping or something, but I don't think its been updated in a year or 2.

BTW CyberSEO Suite does it. It doesn't ping the posts until the actual date. And yes, it works with WordPress 2.6 and it doesn't use cron.
As about smart-update-pinger, so AFAIK it works for those posts that you wrote manually but doesn't for preloaded/syndicated ones :2 cents: |
interesting, I didn't realize that wordpress pinged posts that are unpublished yet ?

so if you preload a dozen posts, it pings all of them right away? what does that mean exactly, do the ping services care that the post is not really there yet? and I wonder what happens if you do a date edit on an old post, does it reping when you re-save? I guess we could test it by putting one of our own ip's in the "ping box" and see what happens in various situations |

The plugin you really need - and I'm surprised nobody has suggested it - is this one http://www.maxblogpress.com/plugins/mpo/ Smart update pinger hasn't worked for several wordpress releases |
