You nailed it Avalanche.

seeric 08-01-2008 09:25 AM

there's money everywhere. go find it.

LAJ 08-01-2008 09:30 AM

This falls in line with what you were saying the other day Airek regarding less bitching and more working. I commend you as well.

BradM 08-01-2008 09:33 AM

Great article - and very true.

SykkBoy 08-01-2008 09:50 AM

yup, very true

get back to work and stop letting other people on boards determine how you do business...

ManuelX 08-01-2008 09:57 AM

yeahh, too true:thumbsup

LAJ 08-01-2008 10:05 AM

Sadly, this will fall on many deaf ears.

stickyfingerz 08-01-2008 10:06 AM

Reminds me I never got to what we talked about. Ill try to do that this week coming up. Been crazy.

C H R I S 08-01-2008 10:11 AM

I agree, and there has been little or no innovation coming out of adult. Get back to work and build the better moustrap.

Jens Van Assterdam 08-01-2008 10:16 AM

Work? What is that supposed to mean?
I thought that was a millionairs club type of forum here.

96ukssob 08-01-2008 10:17 AM

great read and its 100% true. people now adays are to lazy IMO. they expect that the free TGP or blog software + sponsors FHG + $20 in traffic they buy will make them millions.

dont get me wrong, the promo tools from teh sponsors are great, but people need to learn how to use them. i have a lot of friends that ask me to help them set up websites because they think it is easy and only an hour of work a day... not true at all.

IMO, the key thing I try to do is make my sites, galleries and all around business model a bit different than everyone else. if you keep using the same FHGs that 1000's of other webmasters are using to fill your TGPs and rely on the script to chop thumbs, what makes you think that surfer will sign up under your FHG when they have already seen it 100 times before?

:)

There just becomes a point where talking about stuff is futile. Things won't change and no one is going to stop doing business with anyone, whether they say they are or not.

I am guilty of it myself.

Not anymore.

Ah of course! When offering substance isn't an option, it's always good to be the spelchekr.

Thanks for proving the point of the article! :thumbsup

B2BwithJoeD 08-01-2008 11:42 AM

The industry is kicking mine :thumbsup I could not be busier :1orglaugh

Good article Jay, as Chris shared above it always comes back to the dreaded 'I' word - innovation - which used to be appended to the online adult entertainment industry...not so much anymore...

And anyone with a great innovation should bring it to Island Gathering 8 where there are more CEOs as a percentage of attendees than at any other event - and Epoch.com just happens to be giving away a free trip to IG8 this year!

I just like for articles with a perfect message to be perfect themselves :winkwink:

Plus, the whole "viola" thing is a pet peeve :1orglaugh

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 08-01-2008 11:56 AM

Sorry man, boring artical I couldnt read through it all.
Same old story same old non answer's. I do not think I needed another "re-cap" on the industry summed up in 3 paragraphs again.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 08-01-2008 12:02 PM

PS: I thought ya were above telling people to work at Starbucks or Wendys because they are trolls and mindless drones on boards;/

If it were not for mindless trolls and drones you wouldnt have a pulpit/soapbox to stand and preach on. Lets face the fact that industry is actually quite boring and success is not measured by how long and hard you work, success is measured by working smarter and working less while getting paid more for doing nothing.

pornguy 08-01-2008 12:02 PM

Yep lots of bitching going on lately. But hey that happens in this business. Kind of like people not helping others.

Well ya can't please all the people all the time. If you have any answers and feel like sharing in this thread, then cool.

OMG Jim 08-01-2008 12:15 PM

Very well written Jack and honestly I think that most seasoned webmasters will agree with your observations. I surely do.

Now for your question...
Is the industry kicking your ass??

The answer here is "Hell No". We have been and continue to "Kick Ass" in this industry as we have for over six years now.

How have we done it? There is no one simple answer to this as we all know but bottom line is exactly what Jack is talking about.... we WORK at it and don't believe in all the negative hype that seems to have spread throughout the industry like the kudzu here in Georgia.

Excerpt from Avalance/Jack

Ultimately, create a site that is original, has something that involves the surfer...
We have a studio based webcam program like very few others in that we offer Free Nude Viewing of our shows anytime vs. other programs that offer only Free teaser chat with "No Free Nudity". Great for the surfer and great for potential customers. Plus we also offer ALL first time users of our product 200 Free chat tokens equaling 20 minutes of chat time.
ORIGINAL in the fact that it is live content that is different every time someone visits the site and definitely INVOLVES the surfer.

If you?re like me you try to spend as little time on the boards as possible simply due to the fact that they seem to be infested with fake nicks, bots, surfers, and keyboard warriors... don?t become one of the mindless drones that fill this industry.

So true Jack but the boards can be like crack to many and it takes a lot of willpower to "Stay Away"

There is only one solution that I can offer for the state of the industry and that?s get back to work! We need to get back in touch with what is necessary to succeed in any industry, hard work and dedication.

Sounds like this should be the new mantra for the Adult Industry now...

Get Back To WORK!

I definiitely can spot a very much regular wave of collective board hysteria anytime there is something that's "hurting" the sales, painting a devil on the wall and hailing it then is a great hobby to most, yet I doubt 5 pct. of those involved are actually really serious about what they do.

Great article and well written. I'm not convinced Jack wrote it, maybe it's plagiarized. I mean, have you ever met the guy? No way he came up with something that intelligent all by himself.
