Terminator Fucks California

Arnold, just cut all state employee wages to minimum wage. WTF is he thinking? Way to balance the budget on the backs of those working for you.

I have no links to a source for this, but just saw it on my local news.

GrouchyAdmin 07-31-2008 05:12 PM

He's just trying to get the whiny self-entitled worthless fucks to move elsewhere.

You know what?

It'll work.

After Shock Media 07-31-2008 05:14 PM

Ok so its a temp pay cut until the budget is signed that was due in July. Once the budget is signed the employees will get the full pay as back pay.

OMG!
Shit I seem to recall many times when they just did not pay state employees when the budget did not get signed and everyone got IOU's.

WiredGuy 07-31-2008 05:15 PM

How much per hour were they getting before the slashing?

I left that fucking State in 2004 and have never looked back.

tony286 07-31-2008 05:16 PM

that's got to suck for those poor people.

Barefootsies 07-31-2008 05:19 PM

Sweet justice.

State employees are typically union and over paid. They provide barely comparable work for their wage. If most worked for private industry, they would be fired for their lack of productivity, their bad attitudes, and 'lifer' mentality of customer service, which goes something like this... "it's not in my job description".

Good work Arnie.
:thumbsup

Schwarzenegger says a 2003 State Supreme Court decision requires the pay cuts for most of the 200,000 full-time state employees in the absence of a budget. He wants the cuts to take effect immediately; they would show up in pay checks at the end of August.

Defiance Inc 07-31-2008 05:26 PM

More foreclosures...

CDSmith 07-31-2008 05:34 PM

Actually many of those "state workers" also get into credit unions who are used to budget crap all of the damn time. I know they even took the state issued IOU's before.

split_joel 07-31-2008 05:35 PM

he did the right thing to get a budget done.

D Ghost 07-31-2008 05:43 PM

"But State Controller John Chiang sent the governor a letter today saying he would not comply with the order because "it is based on faulty legal and factual premises."

The governor said he will take the controller to court if necessary, but he hopes to resolve the state budget impasse with lawmakers within days, making such a battle unnecessary.

If the governor is successful in cutting the employees' income, they will receive their full back pay once a budget were signed."

He's doing this to get budget figured out, it'd ridiculous that they cannot come up with a budget.

sicone 07-31-2008 06:29 PM

even If they get paid back once the budget is signed they are still fucked for the time being.

Imagine if you had your budget set for lets say 5k a month income and then suddenly for a month or 2 you are suddenly making less then 1.5k a month.

Even if this is temporary thing, this is going to cause problems for many months to come.

Also.. how is 'borrowing' from the states payroll the right thing to do? All it does is add to the deficit the state is already in and when the money is paid back it just hurts the state that much more in one swift blow.

I guess I can at least be happy that he left the education budget alone for the time being...

Meaning many belong to very understanding credit unions. Many of which have taken the state IOU payments from their clients when the state would not pay. They then give these state employees interest free loans for that time period to cover the gap. One of my friends mothers has worked for the DMV nearly all her life and that is where I get the information from as she has had her check cut and or stopped for long periods of time.
