open letter to WebAir, I am very pissed.

<angry rand>
The moment I add new domains to my paid server you add pageholders that will make you money and scare off customers.
Since I pay for the fucking server a simple pageholder like "this is the future home of blah blah blah domain" would be acceptable.
Now if it was a NOT a paid server I could not care less, but heh I FUCKING PAY FOR IT.
please stop it this is not ok.
</angry rand >

mn 07-31-2008 03:37 PM

how about sending a fucking email instead and they will turn it off?

DeanCapture 07-31-2008 03:37 PM

Phatservers Rocks :thumbsup

ThumbLord 07-31-2008 03:38 PM

I discussed this the other times it happened mn so what is your point

crockett 07-31-2008 03:41 PM

Takes about 2 seconds to edit the HTML with your own parked page..

If you just added the domain what customers are they pissing off?

ThumbLord 07-31-2008 03:42 PM

as in this is the 3rd or 4th time it happens, so yes pissed is I think the right expression.

my only point here is you should email them and they WILL change anything you need to have changed. It's your server and they will config it the way YOU want.

at least that's my experience with webair, but i've only been with them for 6 years or so... maybe i haven't noticed their bad side yet.

ThumbLord 07-31-2008 03:43 PM

no crockett that is not true, I upload my own page and there's will be there till it resolves, the doman that is

ThumbLord 07-31-2008 03:44 PM

whatever mn I am pleased that you are pleased, I am only a customer for less then a year so heh .......... again glad you are happy, I am not.

I'm pretty sure they will help you and make you glad again =) . Did you try contacting them on their 24/7 live support?

stev0 07-31-2008 03:47 PM

If this is the only thing you have to bitch about, then it sounds like they've been pretty good to you :2 cents:

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh seriously? wow, thats kind of lame.

are you parking the domains or just adding them on (domain addon in cpanel)? either way, if you are paying for hosting, thats not cool

marketsmart 07-31-2008 03:49 PM

i think you should set their data center on fire... that will show them...

If the domain hasn't revolved who cares? No one is gonna see it but you and not even you if you have uploaded a new page and vist via the IP.

Pleasurepays 07-31-2008 03:50 PM

customers are getting "pissed off" by not being able to reach a site that doesn't exist?

are these real customers? imaginary customers? are they even in this dimension?

WiredGuy 07-31-2008 03:52 PM

When you add a new domain, the new directory appears immediately. You can delete the placeholder, upload your own or simply leave it blank. Takes a whopping 2 seconds to update. And yet your post took about 10X longer to write probably...

Dirty F 07-31-2008 03:56 PM

No offense but i never get it when people make hate posts about Webair. Dont fucking host there, its that simple. The signs are clear enough when you see a new thread a day about Webair and how they suck. Its like buying a broken car and then get angry because its broken.

ThumbLord 07-31-2008 03:57 PM

k let me try to explain this, the domains were parked with parked.com and do have visitors, now since I have developed them it is time to have them online.
but heh will follow your advice and at least delete their pageholder(s).
thank you all.
end of story

ThumbLord 07-31-2008 03:58 PM

ik vrees dat je gelijk hebt Battus/Franck
sorry.

Chris 07-31-2008 04:02 PM

i had a few domains on webair and i noticed this
i wodner if there isa way to turn this off or if they could start rev sharing

ThumbLord 07-31-2008 04:05 PM

so I am not alone on this Chris?
I cannot turn this off indeed, so that is why I am pissed.

yahoo-xxx-girls.com 07-31-2008 04:06 PM

Hi ThumbLord, contact that company and have them remove it manually or add in a redirect in your <head> to an associate program of yours... problem solved. :)

ThumbLord 07-31-2008 04:06 PM

k Balalsubturfyooj that sounds like solid advice

Je hoeft geen sorry tegen mij te zeggen. Meer tegen jezelf :winkwink:

Dirty F 07-31-2008 04:12 PM

I'm not the type of person to spam in posts like this but all i can say is that i'm more than happy with Reflected.net.

Dirty F 07-31-2008 04:12 PM

And if you can remove it or not, it think its crazy they advertise on the server you pay for.
You shouldnt have to change any html or whatever. They are wrong.

HomerSimpson 07-31-2008 04:31 PM

that's just insane...
they are simply stealing from you...

Pete-KT 07-31-2008 04:41 PM

Takes you a second to login to your server and delete index.html instead of omming here huffing and puffing and spending 30 seconds to write a post

V_RocKs 07-31-2008 05:24 PM

I add domains at around 300 or so a pop... I would not have time to remove their shit.

GrouchyAdmin 07-31-2008 05:29 PM

I'm just surprised that someone's bitching about something working at WebAir.

When you add the domains do you not upload files into there directories? whats the point of hosting a domain with no files?

GAMEFINEST 07-31-2008 05:34 PM

plsureking 07-31-2008 06:45 PM

godaddy does the same shit
so i know what u mean.

they use the domain u just paid for
to make money on their advertising..

Net Money 07-31-2008 06:58 PM

This thread is funny in sooooo many ways..... Webair is one of the worst hosts in the biz for so many reasons, yet this issue is not really an issue at all and this post is stupid.:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Hunter_ST 07-31-2008 07:33 PM

Just delete index.html and be done with it. I do that every time I add a new site to my server. No big deal.

jakethedog 07-31-2008 07:39 PM

www.serverprovider.com will stand on their heads, play guitar and spit nickles if you ask them to .. been there long enough to know .. and have been very happy ..

Iron Fist 07-31-2008 07:42 PM

God damn communists trying to make money on a domain and server I paid for dammit!

qxm 07-31-2008 07:44 PM

this is exactly what I thought. It's what I do with the domains I have hosted on my servers there. On other servers I use the same template anyway that I drop into place.

fris 07-31-2008 08:32 PM

webair has to be the host with the most problems

undersoul 07-31-2008 08:48 PM

I use them too for 2+ years and very happy. when i add domains guess what, i take the 2-3 seconds to simply delete the placeholder dude! You spent far more time bitching here then it would have taken you to do that once you added the domain. god damn.

QuickBuck_Natalie 07-31-2008 09:07 PM

Did you ask webair if they could disable the default landers for your account?
