For the past couple years the Packers have been living with the uncertainty of whether Farve was coming back or retiring at the end of the season. Finally he pulls the plug and makes the decision.

That being said, GreenBay moved full speed ahead with their plans for the new QB taking the helm. They were forced to find out what it will be like without Brett leading the team and now at this late hour all bets are off. Green Bay sincerely wants to run with their new guy and see how the cards fall. I mean they used a kickass draft pick to snag him.. now they are more than ready to see what they got.

The reason they don't want him to get free agency is because his top pick teams are all GreenBay's top competitors (in the same conference no less).

The decision to retire is a big one, even bigger if you have had the career Farve has. IMO, Brett should have dug deeper BACK THEN and not pulled the 'I was pressured into my decision' card now.

Offering this 20 million is an interesting dynamic, as Brett has maintained all along this has nothing to do with money.

So spending $20 million on a guy that is 40 so he doesn't go to a team in their division is the solution? Why not spend $20 million so they can be a better team and deal with their division?

Kudles 07-31-2008 11:29 AM

can I have 20 mil to retire?

Laura, you really know what your talking about... woman talking football... wow... But for Brett, who gave everything to the NFL over the years earn the right to go where ever he wants go. They owe him that... If the packers finds that he's not there guy anymore, allow him what ever he wants. Don't insult him by dangling 20 M$ in his face to stay at home... i'm sure it's probably a first in the history of the NFL...

fallenmuffin 07-31-2008 11:44 AM

I have a passion for shit too but for 20 Mill I could learn a new hobby.

BrainCash Olivier 07-31-2008 11:50 AM

Not if you made 200 M$ before... it's always in perspective of how much you have in your pockets... i don't think that's what missing for him..

I can't understand why they would even offer him this. To me they should either release him or if that's not possible (because of a guaranteed contract) then they should just bench him if they don't think he gives them the best chance to win. Spending $20 million to have him as a fan from home can't help their chances to win.

BrainCash Olivier 07-31-2008 11:58 AM

There's one thing that could fix this issue... trade him to where he wants to play. But be prepare to get your ass kick by him if you play against him.

MJ_AVN 07-31-2008 12:02 PM

Being from Green Bay, and a fan of said team, I really just wish this would all end. Trade the fucker out of town and be done with it.

Thoughts about those scenarios here:

Oh, and Jeff Garcia just went down with a calf injury...

I'm not from there but i'm a huge fans of Brett and the team and this make both parties look really bad and only upset the die hard fans... i can't imagine the mood in Green Bay

Spunky 07-31-2008 07:48 PM

Dude has a lot of money already.I guess he doesn't want to play golf everyday

Iron Fist 07-31-2008 08:39 PM

Unfortunately his drug habit is a 21 million dollar expense... so he might need to decline.
