Getting More Than 2mb/s On My Wireless Router ??

I figure that most of you people are knowledgable about this here, so I figured I'd ask.

I just upgraded my net from 10mb/s up to their new 16mb/s, but it's always bugged me that on my laptop, I only get about 2mb/s. I currently have a Linksys Wireless G router WRT54GS.

I'm wondering how fast I could boost my speed going up to a Wireless N router and card for my laptop, also, would that still work with my Xbox360s ?? I suppose it'd be able to run both N and G still.

Any ideas ???

could be the w-lan card aint suitable for highspeed connections, i had to get me one for my hp laptop to be able to connect and stay connected when being in the garden and stuff, the build in one never ever worked fast or properly...

check the network adapter on your laptop, you may need to upgrade it.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them.

Currently I just have the built in Dell card on the laptop, so maybe I should jump up to the Linksys card to match the router.

I have been thinking about upgrading though to N, that's tempting to, ha ha.

Does anyone have any real experience with it, like do you have a G router/card running at a good speed ???

Sounds like a 16Mbit net connection, but is your laptop transfer speed 2 megaBITs or megaBYTES per sec? If it's 2 megabytes/sec then that's about 16Mbit/sec!
