Why do you think Will Smith is hollywoods highest paid actor?
 

He makes more per movie than anyone else in Hollywood.

How do you think he is able to pull it off....& do you think it will last long?

He gets asses in seats. Would never guess "I Am Legend" or "Hancock" made so much cash

He's the first actor in hollywood to have 8 straight movies over 100 million dollars in sales...

Affable, charismatic, and all around non-threatening (old ladies will like him just as much as kids). Last long? He's been doing big numbers for more than a decade. I think he's only one of three actors that's had 7 consecutive movies gross over $100 million (Tom Cruise and somebody else on that list). His latest movie makes it his 8th, so he's now in a class of his own.

Ironically I'm not much of a fan of his films (aside from Six Degrees of Separation), while I was a huge fan of his tv show and even his adolescent rap songs in the 80's. The movies just seem like throw away non-memorable action flicks.

He's very charismatic. Although, i can't see him playing emotional roles.

While I didn't really like the movie, he was great in The Pursuit of Happiness. He CAN actually pull if off. I think i watched it twice on airplanes.

Because he has the same name as me.

He is one of the few guys that makes movies everyone wants to see. Normally you can look at any big movie weekend and see opposite programing. This means if a big action movie or Sci-Fi movie is opening they will usually open a romantic comedy, regular comedy or chick flick opposite it so those that don't want to see the new action/sci-fi flick have something else to choose from. When Will Smith opens a movie very little or nothing else opens on that same weekend because he is one of the few guys who is making movies that guys and girls want to see and he reaches across demographics and pulls in viewers of all ages, races and backgrounds.

Will it last? So far he is doing pretty good and I would expect him to be big for a while more. Eventually they all cool off a little and the next big thing comes along, but I think he is here to stay for a while.

He's a great actor. Like everyone else is saying everyone loves him. He appeals to young, old, black, white, asian.. whatever. I like all his movies especially Bad Boys 1 and 2 and the pursuit if happyness.

I respectfully disagree. I've seen a lot of absolutely horrid movies on planes.

He's one of those really likeable actors, I see him doing what he does best for several more movies.

i saw somewhere he did research to find out what the highest grossing movies had in common and they were action flicks with animation type characters

so he and his agent specifically sought out these type of rolls exclusively.

I can't stand Will Smith, only seen maybe one movie with him, that one about the aliens.

It must be his scientology connections getting him roles.

I like him. His movies have been over all some of the best made.

But I thought that Clooney was the top paid.

I think part of his appeal is also he seems to be a regular guy and down to earth. Everything I have ever read about how he is with his fans and also how he is on movie sets and with the press is this guy really doesnt think he something special just because he is a celebrity. He doesnt expect people to kiss his ass and is still grateful for where he is in his life.

If there is one actor that irritates me and pisses me off, it''ll have to be Will Smith.
