Anyone with acne, this is the only real cure

Accutane, 6 months

You can even buy it online... pretty harsh sides dry skin / chapped lips, some people say it made them suicidal i (as well as 3 of my friends) had no probs other than dry skin / chapped lips

* reducing oil production (sebum) by reducing sebaceous glands,
* decreasing cell build up leading to whiteheads or blackheads,
* killing acne bacteria deep inside the skin, and
* reducing inflammation.

had some nasty shit on my back n shoulders, now its smooth as a baby's behind :thumbsup

i swear to god this shit is a miracle drug, whenever i see someone with bad acne i just want to tell them about how good it works but then how do you tell someone like that w/o offending them :(

BigBen 07-25-2008 03:57 PM

It's pretty amazing how well it works. Terrible side effects, but worth it.

No - not like they claim on the infomercial.

But that Accutane does apparently work very well from what I've heard from others. Apparently its a vitamin C derivative.

For me, I've found working outdoors all day really clears up acne - perhaps the combination of fresh air and natural vitamin C from the sun rays.

Accutane: Vitamin A.
Sunlight: Vitamin D.

Persius 07-25-2008 04:52 PM

It's called change your eating, sleeping, shitting habbits, and drink lots of water :thumbsup

scottybuzz 07-25-2008 05:05 PM

I have had and still have acne although its going, the best solution hands down is sunshine and what persius says above.

I would not recommend taking a drug that has the potential to make you feel suicidal

DateDoc 07-25-2008 05:09 PM

Accutane side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using Accutane and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
  • depressed mood, trouble concentrating, sleep problems, crying spells, aggression or agitation, changes in behavior, hallucinations, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself;
  • sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body;
  • blurred vision, sudden and severe headache or pain behind your eyes, sometimes with vomiting;
  • hearing problems, hearing loss, or ringing in your ears;
  • seizure (convulsions);
  • severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate;
  • loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
  • severe diarrhea, rectal bleeding, black, bloody, or tarry stools;
  • fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, purple spots under your skin, easy bruising or bleeding; or
  • joint stiffness, bone pain or fracture.

Less serious side effects may include:
  • discomfort with contact lenses;
  • joint pain, back pain;
  • feeling dizzy, drowsy, or nervous;
  • dryness of the lips, mouth, nose, or skin; or
  • cracking or peeling skin, itching, rash, changes in your fingernails or toenails.

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.

C_U_Next_Tuesday 07-25-2008 05:14 PM

Try a tea tree oil/ calamine lotion mix...or tea tree oil by itself. Good eating habits and drinking lots of water helps too..unless you are just hitting puberty :1orglaugh

tical 07-25-2008 05:15 PM

yeah i've read some stories about people having those extreme sides... but with any medication there will be the unlucky ones. thankfully for me i wasn't one of them.

MediaGuy 07-25-2008 05:25 PM

I should check it out.

Don't know if you remember but I had my back waxed as a promo to show sympathy for our video chat hostesses getting Brazilians, and since then my back is a redolent MESS! Fargh. Anyhow.. thanks for the beauty tip :)

:D

tical 07-25-2008 05:30 PM

yea man do a search for "accutane journal" you'll see tons of insane before & after pics, life changing stuff

scottybuzz 07-25-2008 05:30 PM

well tical, you say you know 3 people who had it, so the chances I take from your comments are quite high of extreme side effects.

Id love to get rid of my acne once and for all and always try out new things, but if something has say a 75% chance of suicidle tendencies then you know Im not going to risk it.

I take this number on the basis that I have heard of 4 cases ( you and your 3 friends). I doubt that is close to the figure lol

TheDoc 07-25-2008 05:38 PM

Try wheatgrass, works like a champ on Acne, no bs. Drink 2 oz a day, some can drink less, others more. It really works, it's 100% natural.

Spunky 07-25-2008 05:39 PM

I'm glad I never had that problem

Sam Granger 07-25-2008 06:04 PM

Whoopty doo. Those side effects don't even come close to the ones that we all experience on a hard night of partying. Hell, most of those "side effects" are the ones we are trying to attain when we're out on a Friday night. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

nicanor14 07-25-2008 06:19 PM

hey tical its been a long time since we talked can you msg me in icq or email me? thanks buddy :)

MandyBlake 07-25-2008 06:33 PM

it all depends on what their acne is caused by.

TheDoc 07-25-2008 10:12 PM

Anyone reading this that has Acne, really give Wheatgrass a try. Check Google. You don't have to drink it, they have sprays for acne, but drinking it has other major benefits other than clearing your acne and all types of skin issues.

NoWhErE 07-25-2008 10:17 PM

I took acutane for 7 months when I was 16. I had TERRIBLE acne... the kind where it hurt so bad It would give me headaches.

a year later, I barely had a pimple on my face.

HOWEVER, the 7 months I took it was hell... Some mornings my skin was so dry I couldn't talk or my face would crack. I would pee green and I've permanently lost a bit of my night vision.

Trust me, its a really harsh drug but it DOES work.

Kinda agreed. Generaly you need to stay away from high fat products and spend a couple of hours a day outside atleast. The sheet changing and hygenic part I really don't have to go into right?

avalanche 07-25-2008 10:18 PM

Acutane is a miracle drug, but it is very dangerous. There is a national registry of doctors who prescribe it and when a doctor does put a patient on it they schedule regular liver tests as the drug is so dangerous specifically to the liver. Or, at least they did 10 years, obviously that may have changed.

Not to mention it's expensive as hell. I took it over 10 years ago and I think it was $10/pill and you did 2 a day at the time. Thankfully my insurance covered it on a $10 copay.

Great shit!

NoWhErE 07-25-2008 10:19 PM

Btw, my dermatologist and I had tried many different things throughout the years. Both my parents have bad skin, so I was genetically disavantaged. The last resort was Acutane, if that didnt work, it was going to have to be surgery.

Today, if you look at me, you wouldn't even know I had such terrible acne. Technically, I should have a face full of craters right about now

Kudles 07-29-2008 10:53 AM

My brother took that and it works!

scottybuzz 10-02-2008 06:51 AM

Does anybody know any other less drastic things? I am going to go back on the tea tree oil, but if that fails I want to have something else to try. My acne is not that bad, just my face has a few small crators in it and I want to get rid of them.

The Duck 10-02-2008 06:53 AM

Ass acne from sitting down alot if one of my problems.

PenetratinP 10-02-2008 07:45 AM

I took 80mg/day for 6 months years ago after college. Cleared me up permanently.

Best $ ever spent.

ScottyBuzz - Try this simple regiment.

1. Salicylic acid face wash every morning (or every 2-3 days if there's too much irritation) (helps keep pores from clogging up, a mild anti-microbial & exfoliant)
2. Gentle face wash like Cetaphil every night
3. 2-2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream before bedtime (kills p. acnes bacteria, use thin layer)
4. Gentle face moisturizer with SPF 15 every day to ward off sun damage (Neutrogena)

Ethersync 10-02-2008 07:52 AM

Before and after pics?

Nicky 10-02-2008 08:15 AM

Clean hygiene, less fat food (especially potato chips/nuts), sunshine. It all kinda depends on how severe your acne is though, you might need those strong face washes etc if It's bad.

cosis 10-02-2008 08:22 AM

i used accutane when i was 17, it worked great... the side effects kind of suck but worth the trouble...

bottom line you can avoid fast food, drink water, wash your face 10x a day but none of that shit works if you have bad acne........

Great shit!

my son's doctor had him taking accutane (along with other treatments) after he had been diagnosed with a certain form of cancer. he let us know that having patients take it for this was something that doctors were still "experimenting" with, and of course, we were down to try whatever. it dried him out pretty bad, but he had none of the truly major side effects

i don't think you can make a direct connection....but you can't rule it out either. last month, doc found no traces of cancer :thumbsup

so if it can kick cancer's ass, imagine what it does to acne!! :upsidedow

mrwilson 10-02-2008 08:36 AM

I have never had a problem.
a healthy diet works wonders :thumbsup

Try this http://greencream.com/
and start with level 6...

I don't have acne btw, I have flawless skin. GreenCream is a retinol cream that helps with both acne AND wrinkles too. I had a few really light acne scars and just a few tiny zits and the green cream made my skin flawless, my skin just glows. Plus it even makes your skin plumper, the kicker is that you have to use it for at least 3 months to see results, but it works. You only use a pea sized amount on your face... AND DO IT AT NIGHT BEFORE YOU GO TO BED.

Plus retinols make your skin more sensitive to light so you MUST use a GOOD sunscreen every single day, make sure its UVA UVB broad spectrum like La Roche Posay and get like SPF 50 and use it everyday! Seriously. during the day just use sunscreen. You skin will get jacked up if u dont use sunscreen while using retinol..

It's not as harsh as Retin-A and the delivery system for green cream is better actually. It has really good reviews online... Your skin will flake in the beginning and u will need to exfoliate. the cream really works tho, i swear.

used it when i was 15.
it's so strong they had to do a blood test first
And yes, it does mess up your lips, in my case, it also hurt my back, but damn, results were there!

sleazybunny 10-02-2008 08:47 AM

I took this (or Roaccutane as it was called here in Uk then) when I was approx 16/17/18 ish. Tried loads of other stuff before hand. It did work but at what cost?

There are/were people here trying to get a group lawsuit against the makers saying they didn't do enough testing or warn people that it can give you depression permenantly, even after you've finished taking it.

My story: Took it. Had to have regular blood tests to check hadn't damaged my liver (Vitamin A based so can damage liver if have too much). Caused my skin to get very dry and especially my lips. Had to use vasaleine(petroleum jelly) on them to keep them moist and stop craking and splitting painfully, then bleeding. Made me very moody, on top of usually teenager stuff, led to depression although not diagnosed until a few years after, but looking back I was suicidally depressed then. Caused problems with achey painful joints. Again not aware of at time but I recon done permenant damage as mine are still dodgy now over 12 years later.
Cleared up the acne though.

Would i take it again if in same situation?? Hmmm tough. Yes because acne was affecting quality of life, no confidence, no chance of getting anywhere with any girl. No - I've been on anti-depressants since 1998 about 2 years or so after finished taking it. I've got bad joints.

Other ways to improve skin?? If I'd known about tea-tree oil then that would have been great. Sunlight and fresh air, regular washing of greasy areas, drink water and avoid fatty and sugary foods. Don't squeeze or pick because of the scars.

:2 cents:
I.

SabrinaStuart 10-02-2008 08:49 AM

I heard you can't drink while undergoing treatments...
so that was never really an option.
But I've noticed if you drink enough you forget you have it anyway!

vidvicious 10-02-2008 08:58 AM

Accutane is powerful shit ... My ex lost two pregancies because of it

JamesK 10-02-2008 09:06 AM

It worked, but I fucking hated it. That shit fucks you up real bad.. your skin becomes thin as paper.

DarkJedi 10-02-2008 09:47 AM

i heared if fucks your liver up beyond repair

O MARINA 10-02-2008 10:14 AM

my friend took it many years ago as well, I thought it was for very extreme cases?
very powerful & lots of side effects

Phoenix 10-02-2008 10:24 AM

oatmeal soap worked for me when i was in puberty

but someone with real acne issues probably needs more then that

Scott McD 10-02-2008 10:30 AM

Damn, i would like to try it as i still get some acne on my back, and sometimes minor on my face.

Those side effects scare the shit out me though!! :helpme
