DVD Buyers: Question

For those of you that buy movies on DVD like myself, how often do you re-watch your movies, if ever? I've rewatched a few of the cool funny ones, but for the most part, they get watched once and then begin their dust collecting lives.

I watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation about 3-4 times every year before Christmas and still laugh my ass off.

I watched Kingpin a shitload of times when I first got it. I like to have them for when I'm in the mood to watch a DVD but too lazy to go to Ballbuster (usually I just go to ballbusters though, since I get these free coupons).

quiet 10-23-2002 04:13 PM

pretty much. except for music and snowboarding dvds (which i watch all the time). bumfights has been watched a couple of times already, and it's pretty new :)

Cheshire 10-23-2002 04:13 PM

yeah, I like that one too..... great movie.... I'm way into 3000 Miles To Graceland too.... I've watched it probly 9 times now... lol

cold_ice 10-23-2002 04:17 PM

I buy a few every month and only watch a few over and over, mostly just in the backgorund while I do other things. So its kind of a waste of money cuz there are some I only watch once. Then again if you rent one it will cost about $5 and if a return it late like I do most of the time then that just turn into $10, and dvd cost between $10-$25 so might as well buy it cuz after you rent it you might want to buy it anyways. Damn did I make that more difficult than I had to.:2 cents:

I buy a shitload of DVDs that I never re-watch.. often when we go to the Cinama, itīs the same drill, "WOW I want that movie on DVD as soon as itīs released!!".. and then I order it and place it next to the other DVDs.. When I actually watch it, itīs often pretty boring compared to the Cinema experience. Actually I hate watching a movie twice! Some movies you just gotta own :)

Amputate Your Head 10-23-2002 04:20 PM

definately.... some movies simply MUST be owned....

like Pulp Fiction. :glugglug

Amputate Your Head 10-23-2002 04:20 PM

Snatch is another great 'must own' dvd.....

pr0 10-23-2002 04:20 PM

I re-watch national lampoons vacation & x-mas vacation 2-3 times a year.

If i get some really good weed, i watch it 4-5 times a year.

cold_ice 10-23-2002 04:21 PM

The ones that get the most play are: Bravehart, Knight's tale Scarface and pretty much anything with Julia Roberts or Mel Gibson:thumbsup

BumpUglyz 10-23-2002 04:24 PM

That is true, I upgraded all my Mob Movies to DVD and they just sit there :BangBang:

But I do watch my Sopranos DVDs over and over.

SetTheWorldonFire 10-23-2002 04:25 PM

I don't buy my dvds. I just borrow em from cold_ice. Then they collect dust in my collection. Hey, did I give you that forrest gump back yet? :arcadefre

Anyway, I think it's really just a fetish.

Sly_RJ 10-23-2002 04:25 PM

I probably have about 15. Haven't seen many more than once. Although I've watched LOTR and The Matrix several times...

ibjem2 10-23-2002 04:31 PM

Amp,

Netflix is the answer for you, but, I dont know if they can reach you in Hawaii

I use them all the time, 21 bucks a month and I get my dvd mailed to my house, then I drop em in the mail back (all postage in there as well) and you can hang onto them as long as you want.

Only ones I own, Pulp Fiction (must have) and its a wonderful life (christmas eve viewing only)

Other than that, I have em delivered to the house and mail em back. Netflix rocks!!!!

Jim

Tons of DVDs, TONs of CDs, rotation all day.

all the South Park DVDs are constantly spinning - tons of horror DVD double features with cartoons between like at the drive in theatre, I play horror DVDs while I listen to music and just leave the tv on for viewing.

:thumbsup

jreaka 10-24-2002 10:21 AM

Hell i buy almost all mu DVD'S, have over 100.

my lazt ass is the one who doesn't return the movies on time and end up paying 20.00 in late fee's, so i figured might as well buy 'em!:thumbsup

MaxDent 10-24-2002 10:28 AM

I collect really obscure dvds and movies so when my friends come over they don't borrow them. Plus I can watch them over and over and not get bored.

playa 10-24-2002 10:33 AM

I am with AYH. I have caught myself watching this movie over and over again. I can watch the ending (Shootout with Murphy) over and over again. Cracks me up when he tells the kid to run and he will cover him.

I can't decide which is better.... the casino shootout or the Murphy shootout at the end..... hehehe.... they both kick ass. :thumbsup

especially on my CinemaVision widescreen and the surround... http://www.opticalamplitude.com/assets/rockon.gif

DVD standard isnt even gonna last for too long... not worth it

titmowse 10-24-2002 02:18 PM

there's a few in my little collection i watch over and over.

ibjem2, you are correct. netflix is amazing. no late fees! i got oceans' eleven coming this week and we still have monsters incorporated from two weeks ago.

i paid for a subscription to a dvd magazine called total movies and dvd because they promised 40 free dvds as a sign-up bonus. that was six months ago and i still haven't recieved them. i've called them several times and they keep telling me some bullshit story. this last time they told me (in september) that my 40 had actually been mailed.

really pisses me off cause there was some swell oldies in that collection. bastards.
