What Is This?

Ok some fucker has installed something on my PC in the last two days. I'm getting these pop-up windows........ they don't look like a browser pop-up...... the title bar has "Messenger". Then of course there is a link to i presume porn.

Anybody else know what this is and where it would come from?

I read about a new infection that uses the windows messenger. If ur running Win2k/XP, try shutting of the Messenger Service.

They are doing this by using the built in Windows Messenger tool.

You can disable it by turning off "Messenger" in your services. To do this in Windows 2000, right click on "My computer" and go to "properties". Then, double-click on "Services and Applications", then d/c on "Services". Right click on "Messenger" and select "properties" and disable it and stop it.

There was a thread about this a while back and quite a few online news sites covered this new spam-tactic...

Yeah, go into control panel, switch to classic view, select administrative tools, and you'll see the services icon. Look for service named "messenger" turn it off and disable it. You don't need it on anyway. It is for network admins to broadcast messages to workstations on network.
