Chief Moose
 

A few days ago some of you were making fun of Chief Moose and his speaking ability and indicating that he is a dummy. I just saw on the news that he has a Masters in Education and a PhD in Criminology. In addition he apparently is held in high regard by his law enforcement peers.

I saw that report as well. Apparently, the man has a long history in law enforcement. Public speaking can be dicey for most people---you can be very articulate in private but when you have cameras flashing and videocams pointed at you and reporters bleating out questions, I'm sure it could trip up people. I like Chief Moose, he doesn't exude the usual cop bravado and machismo--he seems fatherly and a very approachable, real, person.

Big fucking deal, a PhD. from community college in criminology is like equivalent to an associate's degree in web design from a trade school.

If they guy's so fucking smart why hasn't he caught the sniper? The got nine zillion cops looking for the guy and they can't even get lucky?

Maybe you missed the fact that his skin is black. That's enough to make plenty of ignorant people assume he's stupid and make fun of him.

Edt: This was not an attack on jimmy3way (he posted at the same time as me). You only need to turn on the radio or read around the web to find some serious racism in the attacks on Moose.

I could give a shit about respect, being a cop is abotu doing your job, no glad handing your buddies to be respected. So far he hasn't stopped a single person from getting killed, in fact he ENCOURAGED the guy to shoot a kid at school.

One cannot get a PhD from a "community college". Community colleges offer Assoiciate Degrees.

I am fully aware that more an more Universities are offering online classes including some of the "Ivy League" Universities. My brother is working on his Masters, online, through George Washington Univerisity. This does not degrade the value of the degree. By the way he is employed by a community college.

Yea, maybe with affirmitive action they just gave him the degree first and then told him to try to take the classes sometime in the future if he has the time....

It does not make a person stupid. My brother who stutters has a 4 year degree in accounting.

Even if it was affirmative action at work, many people have a misunderstanding about how affirmative action does work. I respect the time and dedication that it took for Chief Moose to earn a Masters and a PhD.
