How to make a webpage unsavable

Try to save http://www.thecelebritycafe.com/
Can you? I can't. Why?

CowboyAtHeart 10-23-2002 11:49 AM

I have no problems saving it. Didn't really look at it, but any browser should be able to save it unless the browser is broken. (It has to save it at least into memory to display it to you)

Weird. I am using Windows XP and it says "The Web Page could not be saved to the selected location." And I have tried different locations on my computer including my desktop.

I had no problem saving it. IE5/Win2k

Let sleazydream design it, nobody will try and save it.

Can someone with XP please try? Maybe it is just my system.

you might need to clear your cache and then set the max size to like 200mb. when this is the problem you'll not be able to save jpgs as jpgs, too.

Getting same thing on XP..... never seen it before....

It could be because of all the IFrames.....

Try the edit button, if you have it on your browser button panels

Then use dreamweaver or the like to save it....

That seemed to get most of the page ok

If we could figure it out, we could figure out how to make our webpages unsavable.

Yeah, is that related to that bug that only lets you save .BMPs? I have had no problems with that bug although I have seen it in the past.

(Second response to this post.) I cleared my cache and set it to 894MB (which it was already set to actually) and it still did not work. At around 14% the download crashes and saves nothing.

I can't save it, but I can view source and then save the source. Same thing, right?

CurrentlySober 10-23-2002 12:59 PM

i just aved the sorce as a .txt file to my desktop,
then i renamed the file from '.txt' to '.htm' and its saved...

421Fill 10-23-2002 01:08 PM

yeah, that's what I meant.

The Machine 10-23-2002 01:25 PM

Opera/XP - saved it all. IE is a piece of crap.

No it is not. Do this for a regulaer webpage and view the differences. You will see that saving the source that you view is more accurate than saving the webpage with IE. IE adds extra code. If you ever want to figure out the size of a webpage, save the source, do NOT save the webpage.

Not the same thing. Read my above post. Anyone can view source...

Use a _real_ web browser ... "lynx -dump -source" always works :-)
