Speak up folks... identify yourself.

ColKurtz 10-23-2002 11:26 AM

Let me inject some basic logic.

What do you really expect. E-Mail spam is out of control, Instant messenger and chat spam is out of control. Tons and tons of hardcore porn with not so much of a warning page.

I dont believe in censorship. But theres a reason the dirty magazines are hidden at 7-11.

The point is, porn is being pushed in peoples faces that dont want it. Go to a non-adult chatroom on yahoo. Theres so many porn bots its unbelievable.

It is that kind of stuff that gives porn a bad name.

ADL Colin 10-23-2002 11:29 AM

I missed the first part of the speech. he was only talking about child porn and sexual predators by the time I turned it on. Anything more general before that?

Porn had a bad name a long time before the internet even existed.

Smegma 10-23-2002 11:31 AM

Some part of it was about the availabity of porn to children.

pr0 10-23-2002 11:33 AM

I hope they do go after all the people involved in child porn. They are going to need alot of plane tickets to russia i'm sure.

And sexual predators in online chat rooms tryin to hookup with lil kids & shit need to be shot on site.

But as far as regular porn goes, i can see them shutting down tgp's in the near future here in the U.S. anyways.

And yea..spam is out of fucking control this year, seems like everyone started spamming right after 9/11.

So rather than have my tgp's targeted & shit...i'm just gonna shut down my tgp, fuck it...not like its making me any money anyways.

Porn is dead!

I think that kind of stuff SHOULD be stopped. Go after the spammers - the popup kings, the bot users, and all the freaky idiots that are into beast stuff and then KILL ALL the CHILD PORNOGRAPHERS.

Then focus on the hitbotters - yes .......you know who I mean.......

SleazyDream 10-23-2002 11:37 AM

the defining difference is if a surfer came to you or if you forced yourself on a surfer.

yep

All the while I am getting fucking PORN pop ups from a fucking PORN VIRUS right now thanks to Cybersexent. Like I'm gonna join any of their fucking shitty sites.

I know a lot of people do busines with them, they have pulled some seriously malicious shit and you will be hearing more about this issue, guaranteed.

priest 10-23-2002 11:56 AM

Much of what you guys are saying is dead on. I'm so used to many folks in the adult industry saying "you can never push things too far".

It comes down to if we don't police ourselves, then the government will police things for us.

I really resent when Jehovah's Witnesses come and try to force their philosphies down my throat by coming to my door and try to "convert" me.

At the same token people who don't want or like porn shouldn't be forced to view it or see it. This is a matter of choice.

The greatest thing about a free society is choice. People should have a right not to view porn, just as we all have our right to view it, consume it, enjoy it and make it.

I think its sad my own mother gets porn spam and all she does is buy antique dishes on Ebay.

The Machine 10-23-2002 11:57 AM

anyway, forget the free porn debate - there are both pros and cons there (although the cons are more than the pros in my opinion).

what is worse here is that it seems like a strange coincidence that this comes at the same time with the Visa/MC registration.
what i fear is a massive, indiscriminate crackdown that could hurt innocent, honest businesses along with the violators.

ADL Colin 10-23-2002 12:01 PM

Threats to our industry come and go every few years. The sky is always falling.

SunTzu 10-23-2002 12:01 PM

Coincidence the new Visa/MC rules come right around the time Bush starts beating the anti-porn drums??

Of course everyone is against child porn, but as always that's just an excuse to give the mainstream porn industry a hard time as well. That gives them all the reason they need to use strong-arm tactics and of course the extra budget to fund this crackdown. Politicians always use the "I'm against murder and hurting babies" speech to gain support for their real agenda.

And in this administration, they have a tremendous hardon for porn not seen in decades. With A-kroft been quoted as saying he doesn't believe porn is covered by the 1st amendment, and bush's campaign being well funded by christians, there's no doubt what their agenda is.

And to think they have all these free FBI agents to "protect the children" from pornographers. What happened to the tremendous cost fighting terrorism?? Apparently fighting porn is just as important.

Uhh... did he really say that? If so, all these rumors about VISA being in bed with the bush administration in exchange for bankruptcy reform is probably true. It's all starting to unfold now.

Hell, Ashhahahahaha had them cover up a nude statue that was in the background once.

Spooky spooky. Better ask yourself if you reeeeallly want to register as a pornagrapher, cause pornographers surely arent "with" Bush. And if your not with bush.... phear.

My baby (10) has an aol email account.
On aol you can set your preference, I set it to child under 10

I check her email daily

Just today she received

4 spams from Nickelodian
2 from Disney
6 Pornsites
2 other crap

I just deleted it 2 minutes ago. However she is networked to my pc and I check her cookies and her mail daily.. But yes I can see that from a parents point of view. Not every parent checks their kids email on a daily basis.

I think they should

HS-Trixxxia 10-23-2002 12:09 PM

What I understood from it was mainly he & this funding will be focusing on child predators in chat rooms, anyone harming or taking away a child's innocense, promoters/photographers of
c-porn. They will use the internet, the postal service and undercover chat operations.

They are asking parents to watch their children, know where they surf, and basically have a knowledge of what their children do online.

I agree with SleazyDream but think they may require some form of age verification to enter porn sites.

My personal opinion is they should be entering forums and talking to webmasters so we could all give feedback and put our heads together to help keep children safe and catch and put away the predators.

Why? What has changed since the US Supreme Court ruled in CDA (1997), COPA (1998), and COPA II (2001)?

Mr.Fiction 10-23-2002 12:14 PM

I agree with going after people creating child porn. That is where they should spend money, not on chasing legal constitutional content.

Watch how fast this turns into an excuse to fund a wide ranging crusade against constitutionally protected material. Current age verification systems do not work and they are not constitutional.

Let us hope that everyone in the adult industry who was stupid enough to vote for Bush will be arrested first, just as some sort of karmic justice. :)

SunTzu 10-23-2002 12:33 PM

Time to drag out the old warning pages from the pre-Clinton era..

And you better be up on your 2257 compliance notice. They're about to start cracking down on those as well.

If you think there's nothing to all this, think again... Take a look at history.

In fact, check out hustler.com, that site is a good example of what's legally in check. No hardcore showing, all the legal notices in tact.

.:Frog:. 10-23-2002 12:35 PM

Alot of spam needs to stop. I have an e-mail address from my ISP which I don't really use. Well today I check it and had 37 spams. ICQ had 3 spams for some live sex chat program.

These assholes are sending their porn to kids e-mails and I can see people getting pissed off. Nothing wrong with porn, but its wrong to force it on people.

E-mail spammers need to be thrown in jail and fined huge amounts of money. Cut down on those assholes and things would be better.

make a legal defination that's like the one for prostitution in canada. It's legal to be a whore - it's illegial to advertise for sex (cept on other adult sites obviously)

On this Point I do have to agree. It's the few bad apples that screw things up for rest of us. Ya go anywhere and ya gpot the spammers popping up and fucking things up. Porn-bots and all.

To some degree I do agree with holding it back from kids but if not here they'll just pick it up omewhere else. Harmless pics getting bashed while Bush has a sniper running around in his backyard.

Anywhoot...my :2 cents: worth. Am sure it'll get to somepeople. But I just had to come out and speak me mind:BangBang:

One of my e-mail addresses gets over 1500 spam mails a day just from faggots spidering my e-mail address from my websites. Needless to say I do not check it anymore.

Kudos to you for monitering your kid on the net and taking responsibility. Too many people use the web and tv as a babysitter then bitch when their kids gun down a crowd at McDonald's. It's nice to see a parent being an actual parent!

Gee what a pain in the butt... no doubt not all parents are checking their kids email like that when they probably should. But yet should not have to. sucks.

Bottom line is they should not be receiving porn spam.

I swear because of issues like this, I don't know if I ever want to have children because I fear I will try to raise them in a bubble. I don't think I would even allow a kid to surf the internet or touch a computer that has ever surfed the internet, period. Not the way it is now.

Spammers -- throw in jail.

Kids who WANT to view porn -- have a good time just don't come to my sites and have your mommy sue my ass!
