MMA - Best Pound For Pound Fighter

I'm gonna start this off with BJ Penn

VeriSexy 07-20-2008 03:07 PM

Fedor takes it...without a doubt.

ntmaven247 07-20-2008 03:10 PM

Fedor, then Anderson Silva, then GSP/Penn...those are my fav's!

Evil E 07-20-2008 03:24 PM

BJ it is.

Evil E 07-20-2008 03:25 PM

I'll have to add Kid to the list of contenders.

Nicky 07-20-2008 03:25 PM

I'd say Fedor

figweed 07-20-2008 03:30 PM

Fedor takes the cake, GSP and Anderson Silva for a close second

Silva is expected to fight Roy Jones Jr. if Dana White can butt out, I'd love to see that

Shameless 07-20-2008 03:39 PM

This will piss people off: Rickson Gracie :winkwink:

In a regular boxing match?

marketsmart 07-20-2008 05:02 PM

i am going to have to add urijah faber to the list..

candyflip 07-20-2008 05:02 PM

Uriah Faber? I also saw a little Hispanic kid from Chicago who's name slips my mind. I think he's the WEC lightweight champ.

pornask 07-20-2008 05:06 PM

Fedor and Georges St Pierre.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out the Fight Science Videos :thumbsup

Miguel Torres is from East Chicago, Indiana actually and he's the WEC bantanweight champ (135 lbs), not lightweight champ (155 lbs) which is two weight classes heavier. Urijah Faber is the reigning WEC featherweight (145 pound) champ.

Evil E 07-20-2008 05:09 PM

lol @ urijah being top p4p fighter.

That's the guy. I knew he was a small one.

Good Choice. He is my favorite fighter and I give him as much credit as Silva, Fedor, or St Peirre. I cant get into the pound for pound thing because there is no way I can take anything from any of them.

Very true, very true. St Peirre's next fight should be very interesting, as well as Chucks.

Porno Dan 07-20-2008 06:41 PM

I vote for Penny Flame, and so does Corey.

I am a fan of both Boxing and MMA and this is not good for either sport. The facts are simple Jones wins and embarrasses Silva in a boxing match or Silva destroys Jones in an MMA either way it ends badly for one of the fighters

That rumor was discredited weeks ago. It will never happen.

AMDWarrior 07-20-2008 08:12 PM

Anderson Silva, Easily

Think about it for 2 seconds.

Put him against BJ penn(even at 150 catch up weight) and he will be exposed(probably in the first round).

BJ on the other hand can go up to 170, 185 or even 205 and hold his own. That is a true P4P fighter.

Send Faber to japan so he faces real competition before talking about him.

Urijah is very good, I would say he is an "A" fighter, but you can't compare him to BJ, Silva or Fedor at all. Maybe he'll get that good later in his career, but I doubt it.

Evil E 07-20-2008 09:21 PM

marketsmart since you are the almighty MMA expert, I would like to know what are your picks for tonight's event since your prophecies should materialize.

tapeworm206 07-20-2008 09:29 PM

Its GSP for me!

I give GSP best all round fighter, Silva is the best striker and Fedor is the best EVER!

Thats my vote.

i'm not sayign i am an expert.. i do train and i watch and follow a lot of fighters..

a lot of people said joyce gracie was the best p4p for quite some time...

my point is, that fighters come and go.. to not give faber or any other fighter credit for being dominent in their wt class is discrediting the sport...

now that ufc is working hard at going worldwide, i expect to see a lot more higher quality fighters in the next few years...

Evil E 07-20-2008 09:57 PM

Alright, so what are your picks for tonight anyways?

There's not only the UFC in the world, most of the better lighter fighters fight in Japan.

Affliction also has the best heavies fighting for them.

Who do you think would win? Faber or Kid? How do you think Faber would do at 155 against Sherk or Jo Daddy for example?

Like I said I give Faber credit but you just can't compare him to someone like BJ PENN.

He's just not there yet.

Lance69 07-21-2008 08:33 PM

Fedor, Silva, GSP. I'd say GSP is better than Silva but he'll need a few more fights before it's proven. But anyone compared to Fedor is sooo hard to gauge.

Anthony 07-21-2008 08:53 PM

Fedor
Silva
GSP
BJ
Kid / JZ

Turboface 07-21-2008 08:54 PM

Silva.

:thumbsup

Where are KB and Cory on this list?

laloco 07-25-2008 05:19 AM

all in all I would go with BJ Penn with Anderson Silva a close second

HBKKH 07-25-2008 08:36 AM

fedor Pierre.

johnuk 07-25-2008 09:05 AM

I'd say Silva, Fedor, BJ then a gap to GSP

I can see Silva beating Fedor, BJ & GSP but I think GSP still needs to dominate his division before he's considered top3. Beating an aged Matt Hughes and 2 tries to beat Serra doesn't convince me (yet)

Vegas Ken 07-25-2008 09:26 AM

I will throw my 2 cents into the pot

I personally think Fedor like most of the old Pride fighters is over rated. The future may prove me wrong, I am keeping an open mind. I personally like GSP, Anderson Silva, BJ Penn.

S.A.K. 07-25-2008 11:27 AM

It simple its Fedor. The guy has never really lost (dont even try to count that bullshit cut fight) and has fought everybody. I dont care that he is a heavy weight he is also a machine!

Doctor Dre 07-25-2008 11:28 AM

1. Fedor
2. GSP
3. Andersen Silva
4. Bj

GSP!

Kevsh 07-25-2008 11:49 AM

I'm fairly shocked so few are saying Anderson Silva outright. But when he wins the UFC Light Heavyweight title, then there will be no doubt.

Brad 07-25-2008 12:01 PM

As a Canadian, I'm obviously a GSP fan.

That said, I think BJ is up there considering his fights in higher weight classes like Machida, etc. Fedor, is the best heavyweight but it's also the weakest division (let's see how he does against AA). Spider dominates people every time out and probably should be top of this list (but he also hasn't been really "tested" in the UFC yet. maybe because he's that good?). GSP out works people and consistently shows that he is one of the most athletic and skilled fighters at WW.

I don't really like p4p since you can't come to a consensus but these are obviously the top 4 right now.

BardMan 07-25-2008 12:33 PM

Isnt Faber undefeated? Not that it means everything-- but his record is like 2x-0 or something crazy like that.

I would put Faber at the top along with Anderson the spider Silva- when he came into the light heavies and dominated against TheSandman ( yea Sandman took a mean shot and crumbled) - regardless- Anderson was fucking on fire.

Im not really a fanboy of him- -but damn he is pretty unstoppable.

Faber-same thing- take either of them:pimp

bignick 07-25-2008 01:37 PM

1) Fedor - Damn I felt bad for Tim Sylvia... kinda

2) Anderson Silva - 36 seconds, holy shit, nice right

3) BJ Penn - soon to step up to 170 to fight GSP... I think he might beat him too...

Faber would get crushed by several UFC lightweights... might happen later in the year
