Aren't there anymore REAL amateur girls in the biz?
 

DAMN.

When I had my amateur site back in 2002 most of the solo girl amateur sites were run by the girl's themselves, or their boyfriends/husbands. Now all these big webporn companies have all these "real" amateur solo girls but really these girls are just models and personalities for the sites which the big guys run.

Seriously, I have been searching this board "solo girl", "amateur site" etc etc and all I am finding are companies like Lightspeed who have nice sites for sure, and yes they are personality based but where are the owner-operators, the REAL amateur girls?

Is there no market for it anymore? Or are they all on AVSs and newtworks now? The $750 CCBill account and incorporating thing existed while I still had my site and lots of girls just went ahead and did it rather than moving to an AVS. But now I can't seem to find any.

I have a friend that wants to start her own amateur site, mostly for fun with her husband. I told her it was easy and lots of girls do it but now I feel like a liar because I can't find any examples to show her! Even KCat of kcatclub.com is on an AVS now and I see others on that same network that used to be standalone.


AHHH I feel like I have just got out of jail or something with the way everything has changed!

I run my own site mostly, although I work with some good people and ask for help when I need to. It is hard and a huge learning curve, but I'm finding it enjoyable:)

Almost, it was guys from work. I was 20 and worked in a call centre where the girl/guy ratio was 1:50, my photos spread like wildfire. I wasn't freaked, I just didn't want to deal with it. I never intended to make money, maybe made $200/mo because I didn't do any advertising, I just liked posting naked pictures of myself online lol So that $200/mo wasn't worth it.

Quoting myself here lol but also my biggest problem back then is that I was really sick with an undiagnosed stomach problem and I was VERY underweight. I had really awful body image issues and was ashamed of people I knew knowing what I looked like under my clothes. See that avatar of me? That is me now, I'm naturally quite thin, 105lbs...I was 80-85lbs back then! So yah actually in retrospect maybe I did freak, but not cause people saw me naked, it was because of this.

I will respect GFY's rules, but I'm sure a google search on "solo girl board" will help you locate it. :thumbsup

A lot of us still run our own websites. Most of us are not amateurs though. A majority of the women I know that run and own their own sites were models for a few years before they started their websites. There are plenty of examples to show your friend.

Might have been me, I have been designing and making clothes since I was a kid. I work as a pattern maker now. Though I don't remember showing them to anyone but that was a long time ago!

I think you answered your own question.

With the rate of "Amateur Solo Girls" who decide to quit, for what ever reasons, some people are reluctant to send them traffic. So start up sites always suffer with a lack of traffic, add this reason to the mix and the failure or quitting rate increases.

Result is fewer true amateur solo girl sites in the business. That statement is actually an oxymoron. From a moron. LOL

Yah all makes sense...not sure I would ever work with a girl on her site. They all want something for nothing. Not willing to put in more than the 3 hours it takes to make the photos and then get bored with that too. Then there are the others who want to do their own site and have no real idea how much work it will be and tire of it quickly.

Agreed...especially when dudes looking @ the sites are in a lot of cases "trying to get away with something"! Whether that be at home, or at work...

I would not say its been easy but it is well worth it and a lot of fun.

There are plenty of amateurs, and some even partner with the bigger companies for more traffic and also to share resources. It is not always a "bad thing"

We've been making a living since '99 with our amateur sites. Jill started with her bluefairy cam house, then launched her namesake site in 2001. We have seen many amaters move on too. For us it's more the lifestyle than the money. Do what you love, the money will follow sort of thing. Tell your friend she can do it, but tell her to expect a lot of work and devotion. :thumbsup

I have one that was just finished last week. PenelopeSky www.penelopesky.com She has been learning for almost a year how to run the site on her own and is doing a great job to say the least. I am as close to a boyfriend as you can be without being one if that helps and I am the only one that helps her with the site.

There are a few true amateur networks left like Dreamnet.com and Southern Charms, etc. My own site is still running quite happily. It is difficult to find true amateurs though. I think it was more a function of the budding internet, and now people are seeing it more as a business than a fun exhibition. There's flickr and such if you just want to show off your bits these days. :)

This is EXACTLY one of the things that turns me off for promoting model-run sites. Then can and generally do shut down overnight, without care for affiliates or the time it takes to build things for promotion.

The reason I am so into this thread is because I am contemplating launching a new "hit or miss" sologirl program. The problem is finding girls like Brian837 mentioned and not having to deal with the brain damage. Not sure if I really need that.

True dat! When I told my guy what I am thinking of doing, I knew he would be cool with it because he is open minded but I expected a little bit of "uh...really?" Instead he blew me away. Rather than simply being cool with it he told me he admired my strength and thought that I was an amazing person. Now THAT is the type of response you want.

The Panchodog crew is amazing and they have help me to learn SO MUCH...For the rest... it's millions of hours in front of photoshop trying! lol!

For the design... the current one is not mine...My new design + another one will be launch pretty soon but you can see some example on another webmaster forum... :)

make sure the girl can trust you and do what you can to show it. She should be willing to do the same for you. She should understand this is a big investment for everyone involved. Be fair when it comes to money and working. If the site does well you should both have lots of money in your pockets.

melissa from melissa midwest still does a hell of a lot of work on her site.

everything content and member-related is all her, and even though shes accomplished a lot, i would still consider her an amateur since her site is independently-owned and never had the backing of a big program.

Strange how many people don't realise that once you get established in the "biz" you're no longer an amateur even if you are running your own site from home, you're still a pro because let's face it amateurs don't survive in any business :2 cents:
