Sounds good to me but at $1,000,000 per plane do the airlines have the $$ for it right now?

its a good idea....lots of rpg's around

and it sure beats getting shot down

yeah, redirect it to some overpopulated area and kill everyone down there instead haha.
but now seriously, isn't that a bit much? it' s way easier to hijack a plane and throw it against some shit like it was shown previously, or even bomb some important place, why worry about every single plane in the US, I don't think I've heard about a single report of planes took down by a RPG or some shit.
who knows tho, may be they will approve and you will have yet another useless 'security measure'

there are several types of missles first of all.....heat seaking, laser guided & direct target

direct target missles are like a gun, you point & fire....they go....no laser deterrent system could stop them (RPG's would also fall under this category)

heat seaking.....unless the laser is generating heat, it won't stop it

finally laser guided missles (the newest generation)....these systems will def stop these

final point......these systems are one giant waste of taxpayer $
