WoW addicts

I have a friend who just failed to graduate from school and does nothing at the moment. Today I called him at 4 pm if he wants to go swimming with me but he was still half sleepy lying in bed. Now I called him again and asked if he wanted to come over an play poker with some other friends.
He has no time because he has to play WoW from 7 - 11 pm. How fucked up is that? If a fucking computer game is more important than hanging out with your friends in the real life! And it's not the first time that WoW was more important to him.
I just don't get it. I mean he is 24 and not 15 :helpme

Experienced the same with a buddy playing EQ some years ago, he could've taken a masters had he put his EQ time into studying time... and weren't 17 either mid 20ies.

Today's he's a school teacher :1orglaugh

That Poker game you're having.... Cash game or tourney?

rayadp05 07-15-2008 09:55 AM

Yeah, I know a couple of people like that. For me personally, I'm not even into video games all that much. It's fun to do every now and then but when a fucking game takes over half of your life, that's just sad.

cowboys arent easy to love and harder to hold....

_Richard_ 07-15-2008 09:59 AM

He must be a critical member in an active guild. If you don't show up for raids you don't get the gear and might get kicked out. LOL, I hate that fucking game.

BuggyG 07-15-2008 10:10 AM

heheh sounds like it qwas his guilds raiding time
yeah i still play.. but not as often as when first started
2-3 a week maybe when am bored
drop it when I get offers to get out of the house
but nice rainy days or when ya bumemd out and wanna chill
kills time easily

payd2purv 07-15-2008 10:14 AM

I hate video games but I have a lot of other "activities" that make me act like that..

Right now specifically because I am not working a full time job and just smoking weed alllll day and going to sleep at 6am...

I feel like shit and don't do anything with anyone till the weekend...

Don't be a fag. Don't just abandon him.. Don't say shit like "ohh fine i'm not your friend" be there for him because eventually depression is going to kick in and he's going to say fuck the game and want a friend to chill with..

Cash game with rebuys, why you ask?

Evil E 07-15-2008 10:22 AM

I have a friend like that... When I went to see my other friend that lives with him... he would just stay in his room, play WoW and not even say hi.

I am a strange kind of workaholic :( when I'm not working, I'm trying to find new work or playing business simulation games... during the weekends I'm happy because I can work THE MOST! and it bothers me when people tell me I'm nowhere to be seen anymore... :helpme lol... but hasn't killed me yet!

That is fucked up. I play Call Of Duty online for hours some days, but it's only when i have nothing else to do really. I wouldn't not go out because of it.

Between WoW and damn sites like FaceBook, Bebo etc, staying in is the same as going out to some people... :disgust

Apparently it is. Why don't you respect his chose you cunt? If I had friends like you, you bet your ass I'd rather play WOW than hang around with you.

Michaelious 07-15-2008 10:48 AM

I know i should not play it as i would get trapped too.

Just wondering :) I'm a poker nut.

BTW I don't play video games. Never really been into them.

wyldblyss 07-15-2008 11:28 AM

Oh geez, my son was like that. He actually had a schedule almost like a job lol. When it got to the point he was trying to wrangle out of family events I put a stop to it and made him go cold turkey for a while and get a life so he would remember how the rest of us live.

I think it is personality type, some people are just more prone to it, it becomes almost like an addiction.

hypedough 07-15-2008 11:30 AM

Tell him to stop snorting that WoW shit.

I personally never understood how it was addicting, I started playing when all my mates where level 60. How crap because levelling up on your own is such an annoying process. So I didnt bother.

tranza 07-15-2008 11:37 AM

I don't get why people get so addicted to games.

I bought a Playstation 3, a couple of months ago, and end up using maybe 5 times in this whole period.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 07-15-2008 11:58 AM

mmmm grow up??

sniperwolf 07-15-2008 12:40 PM

Very familiar scenario! Sounds like a friend of mine!

But hey, it will come a time that he'll get tired of the game and will look for his friends. :winkwink:

No worries, he'll be fine though!
