GFY Car freaks -->> Land Rover Defender 90 .. Anyone have one of these ??
Talking to a guy today who has one, and I have never heard of these things. I told him I was looking to start flippin some cars to make some money and he said he would sell me this thing for 28k. It has 64,000 miles on it and is in mint condition.. It has 2 tops, and another set of mud tires.. I looked it up today and it goes for 35k or so.. Do you think this is a good deal ?? Are these in demand.. I know the board is not a car lot lol, but you guys always seem to know your shit, every now and then :thumbsup

I love the defender, especially the 90 :thumbsup

Its not great with gas over 4 bucks a gallon. People want small cars, flip those and you will make some good money.

hey zuzana.
i'm a defender 90/110 nut. 68k miles isnt too bad but 30-35k would buy one in CA with only 30k miles on it and they are a really niche market. I dont think it a bad buy but maybe not the best for flipping you might have it awhile. i'd buy it from you if it wasn't yellow! |

I've always loved Land Rovers, my currents are an 02 Discovery II and a 06 LR3. The older ones were better though (at least more fun). I don't personally think that one you posted is a great deal. Tough to flip. I have bought and sold cars since 1984 and had dealer's licenses in FL & AL. Don't believe everything you see on eBay.:2 cents:

btw, zuzu, where you looking up the values?

kbb values are fucked up, nobody pays that. You need to get real values from car dealer auction sites like manheim. Dealers use kelly blue book to sell cars at ridiculous prices.
|
Taking a look at ebay this morning and they all seem to be well over 30k.. But like Clark said it looks like a niche car.

nice color! :)

i have one in Connecticut just in storage .. great car, a trooper

You may be hanging onto it for awhile at that price. Offer him 24 and expect to have it on your hands for 6-8 months while you sell it....
2 years ago it would be gone. Today with fuel and economy as is, even the diehards are going to be tipsy. |

Wow that's crazy. I would never think that would sell for 28k. Craziness.
|
You're gonna have a hell of a time selling that. Not many people are gonna buy a car that old. There's a reason he's willing to sell for 28k when its 'worth 35k', and that is because he can't sell it for 35k. He's not going to lose 7k because he's your friend.
