USD and EUR in Ukraine

Okay we all know its kinda tight days in USA and dollar is weakening, but here in Ukraine Euro is loosing points too. Soudns like Euro depends on dollar here, or i missed something?

They are trading both the € and the $ up in Scandinavia today. I bet we follow the bigger markets so that's hopefully a trend today.

Some countries (mainly newer european ones) have tied their currency to the euro, so that inflation doesn't strike as hard, especially once they enter european union. Then, when the summer comes, they can adjust it a bit.
What you see is most likelly summer deflation of foreign currency. Many countries do it, so that when tourists come, they get a little bit less for their money then they would otherwise. :winkwink:

We have been watching the exchange bounce like hell here as well.

Right now it is 1 dollar to about 10.18 Pesos. And it dips as low as 10.08 and we have seen it as high as 10.23

2 years ago, it was 1:12.10

This actually has to do more with the hryvnia's exchange rate policy. Since April 2008 the currency grew dramatically in value against both the USD and the euro. Looks like that was caused by the loosening of the currency trading band by the NBU (National Bank of Ukraine), and upward pressure on the currency taking hold. Looks like the hryvnia does not completely float on the currency markets.
