Any hand experts here - I think I broke my hand on one of those punching arcades....

Short version: After 4 or so punches, I hit a bit high on the bag and my hand instantly started to hurt. It's been 2 weeks now and my hand still hurts like hell when I bend it backwards or try to tear an envelope in half. Anything else that could be wrong other than a broken bone/s? It doesn't hurt when I move any of my fingers and there is no visible brusing.:mad:

I've done the same thing, I feel your pain. I would say that when I did it, it hurt for a month. You can go to a doctor, they'll give you some pain pills and put some kind of a brace on it to immobilize it. Or you can go to a pharmacy and buy a brace yourself. It's just gonna take time. If you don't move your hand, it won't hurt. Get the brace, if you go to the doctor, set one or two of those pain pills aside for me ;) Keep a stiff upper lip my friend.

You're not suppose to hit anything full force when you're hands aren't wrapped or you're not wearing gloves. Your hand can't take it Even Tyson broke his hand in a street fight.

Go to the hospital. You don't want the bones to heal incorrectly.

not real bad - that's why I put off going to the doc. It was real swollen for about 3 days then went down but the pain is still pissing me off.

I've had a brace on it since the day after - the pain was almost unbearable but I don't hit the ER unless there are bones sticking out.

I never really thought it could cause injury since the bag releases as you impact it but looking back I guess I do punch a bit harder than they were intended for - that and the fact that I hit really high on the bag. I think I'm gonna go to the doc tomorrow - the more I think about it possibly being broken the more I worry about my golf swing.

Sounds like you sprained it rather then broke it.
Still...time to visit the doctor instead of gfy!

You may have what they call a "boxers fracture" this is where you hit something and crack some bones. I had a friend in high school that got pissed and punched a wall and had this happen to him. There wasn't much swelling but it hurt like hell. Go to the doc and let them Xray it.

i've had it before... broke the bone above my pinky knuckle. i had swelling for a while and i still have a small lump 10 years later.

at first the doc put a cast on it to immobilize it... but for personal reasons i had to take it off but still wore a brace.

i'm not saying this is what happened to you, but if you broke it you want to be sure the bones set back in place properly.

go see a doc... orthopedic would be best :)

Hey, let me know how it turns out when you see the doc. I hope you feel better!
