Question for Thunderbird users

Is there an easy way to change the order of the mail boxes on your list? Am I overlooking something?

The Duck 07-08-2008 02:40 AM

No clue, but I am thinking about going from outlook express to thunderbird. Would you recommend it?

Sarah_Jayne 07-08-2008 02:56 AM

I use both...one for Max Cash work and one for all my other email accounts. I like Thunderbird. It is easy to use and doesn't 'act up' on me at all. Prior to that I was a Eudora user for years and now I wouldn't go back.

I just can't figure out how to move the different email boxes around. I have loads and I would like to have the more important ones towards the top of the list.

Not that I am aware of. But you can rename them with symbols, like "#" for more important ones, that should move them to the top.
Or make an "#_important_# folder and move your folders into there....

On my list they are in the order in which they were entered into the program rather than alphabetical.

They dont drag and drop?

Sarah_Jayne 07-08-2008 06:05 AM

If they do then they aren't doing it for me. I can drag and drop the folders within each email account but not the email accounts themselves.

(Save As and then install into Thunderbird)

Be very careful with Thunderbird. It can't handle very much mail/spam. Mine crashed more than once on two different machines, it would lockup on loading too both of which made me lose emails each time. I get 2-5k emails/spams every day or two and Thunderbird couldn't keep up.

I now use Outlook Express with the SPAMfighter plugin. Works like a champ: 330577 emails, 299370 spams, 5823 blocked by me. That's less than 2% of the spam making it through to my inbox.

Thunderbird + Spambayes = win.

Everytime someone uses Outlook Express baby jesus cries.

It's not the spam filter software that is crashing it, but better filters for thunderbird would have been handy. I will pass this along to friends/family that use Thunderbird and have been bitching about spam.

Thunderbird straight up can not handle my email volume.

I can get 2000 emails in one check, it wouldn't import the mail, it wouldn't load the mail, it wouldn't respond.. It would finally crash, delete the emails, and load fine.

what mail client are you using? I believe that's really possible.

Sarah_Jayne 07-08-2008 10:25 AM

I get tons of spam and have used Thunderbird for about 18 months without a problem.

d-null 07-08-2008 10:32 AM

I've been using Seamonkey and happy with it.
