DateDoc 07-07-2008 02:43 PM

I am assuming the guy from the movie in which he played football at Notre Dame but it could be Rudy Giuliani.

CDSmith 07-07-2008 04:54 PM

Sean Astin, or the real Rudy Ruettiger?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Ruettiger

I saw him speak at a business convention in Atlanta back in the mid 90's. (the real guy, not the actor)

baddog 07-07-2008 11:04 PM

hehehe your far to quick for me baddog :thumbsup

Actually when l left the San Francisco show I got offered(well everyone did) by the airline $400 plus a hotel paid for and upgrade to first class for the same flight to chicago but going the next day as my flight was 11pm as they oversold 40 seats or something ,nice offer but I was too tired to take up what was l think a good offer.

I saw one couple take it .

Is that a regular thing to happen on usa flights?

Guess it depends on the airlines. I haven't experienced it on SWA, but did have it happen once a couple years ago on AA (or United, forget which).

What they were offering wasn't shit.

We were offered something similair on our flight home from NYC. They needed ten people to go on the later flight (5 or 6 hours) and they were offering $300 per person who accepted. I couldn't be bothered tho... $300 for sitting around an airport.. Well $600 really but my gf would just have spent it there and then. So I chose to come home on my own flight. :)

Shows you the generation gap...most of us would have made a Goonies reference or at the very least called him a hobbit. I would have a hard time not telling him that it was 'our time, our time up here'.

Ruettiger is currently married and has two children. Most recently, Ruettiger has begun to market a sports drink, Rudy Revolution, capitalizing on his reputation as a motivational speaker.[5]

Ruetigger and his wife are currently building a new home in the glitzy Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas, NV.

ADL Colin 07-08-2008 08:33 AM

"In the final play of Ruettiger's senior season with the Fighting Irish, he recorded a sack, which is all his Notre Dame stat line has ever shown. Ruettiger was carried off the field by his teammates following the game. Ruettiger actually played for two plays. The first time he was unable to get to the quarterback, but on the second play he sacked the Georgia Tech quarterback."

But of course anyone who saw the movie knows there was much more to it than that.

I guess you did not grow up in the 80s. I remember being a bit surprised to see him in the "Lord Of The Rings" trilogy. I really liked him in "White Water Summer" with Kevin Bacon. That was also an 80s movie. Really good movie... especially for me to remember it all these years later.
