A Little Pissed, Please help.

I am little pissed. Here is one of my mainstream sites VictoriaAfterDark . Now take a look at this site
Nightlife . Looks a little too familiar for me.

The story goes like this. I hired a programmer to program the backend of my site. (No written contract) He made the code for me. After a year of running the site I thought to myself, hey I can make some money selling the coding for this site on ebay. So, i hired the same programmer and his brother to sell and distribute the site via ebay for a 50 percent commission. After two months they thought that they deserved more money and wanted a higher percentage. I said no. So we stopped.

The programmer obviously has the coding for my site. Well now he and his brother are selling this on ebay. Nightlife Listing

I need some much needed advice. It is not the money that is an issue. I am just fucking pissed.

When u say u hired a programmer... on what basis was it?

Hope u have something in writing that says that you own the code and not the programmer.

good advice ... i like to take a walk to calm down when im pissed. working here in SF provides a great opportunity for nice long walks. also, as cool as most folks are around here with the 'buddah' (if you know what i mean), enhancing my walks with a little herbal intake really calms the nerves too.

it doesn't sound like you can really do anything since you have no written contract.. did he use your computers? maybe he left some personal files on there that you can do something with.

did you try talking to him to see what he says? if you can get him to assault you then you can take him to court!

Well dude what I would do is track its progress on ebay and every bidder that bids shoot him an email about what happen and see where that takes you. Maybe they wont want it if the see they are stealing your shit as long as you can prove your site being around a lot longer.:2 cents:

Hire someone to "Do something" about it.

It's called auction interference and it will get you booted from eBay if they are in the right mood. You are better off to go straight to eBay and complain to them.

but as far as the code goes... if you dont have a contract, he sort of just licensed it to you, he owns it.

Those sites do not really look all that similar.
