R.I.P. Rufus my kitty

Cancer finally got the best of my best friend, my cat Rufus all who have been to my house know how much I loved him. I had to put him to sleep today and he went out in my arms looking right at me very peacefully. All you cat owners give your kitty a big hug if you read this. Very tough day for me today but Ill be with all mt friends in Vegas this week.

At least he has gone peacefully and he knew how loved he was. Best wishes!

i just saved a nice orange tabby this week, but he has fleas lol so now i have to clean him up and do some serious washing tonight....he is real cute tho and sweet :) worth the hassle :) He needed a home.

munki 07-06-2008 01:13 PM

So sorry dood, complete animal nut here... 10 yr male tabby, 6 yr female lynx/siamese cats, and 5 yr chow/border collie, and 3 yr golden/akita.

I've had to put one close friend down years ago (a female chow) also because of cancer, and it's every bit as hard as losing a person. That lil pup was around during some of the best times, and also the hardest times of my life, with a cheerful wagging tail at all times no matter what.

Drinks on me in Vegas...

RIP Rufus...

I had to put my "best friend" Cat to sleep in May after nearly 20 years - he survived diabetes, CRF, pancreatitis, hyperthyroidism and a bunch of other stuff - but couldn't survive a brain tumor. I feel your pain and send prayers for your healing.

Dude, not to worry about Rufus, he's probably just having fun playing with my Phelix in kitty heaven...

Very sorry to hear that ...the loss of a pet is some of the worst emotional pain around. I love my two so much and even though they are young I have moments where I flash forward and dred those moments that I know will come. Yet, we always have pets. Why? Because they give us so much joy it is worth the eventual pain.

tranza 07-07-2008 06:54 AM

Sorry to hear that...

Ravage 07-07-2008 07:12 AM

Sorry for your loss, Joe. Pets truly are part of your family; I have three cats myself. I'll give them all a hug, and have them send some good kitty vibes your way.

pornguy 07-07-2008 10:42 AM

We had to do that with one of our dogs, and we still miss her. From time to time, my son will call her, and try and find her.

Veronica 07-07-2008 12:18 PM

I am sorry to hear about your kitty. I lost my Bengal (1/2 Asian Leopard, 1/2 domestic) to congestive heart failure less than 90 minutes before he was scheduled to see a heart surgeon. It was very frustrating - I screamed at the vet to resuscitate him, but there was nothing they could do. He was only five, and it came on without warning and I lost him in less than 72 hours.

I had gotten a shelter kitty to keep him company; now she has no company. She used to be really outgoing with other animals, but now that her "brother" is gone, she wants nothing to do with them. I am not sure if it would be wise to get another cat at this point.

I have a horse, and they have very delicate digestive systems - death can strike at any time - so colic (aka, "tummy ache") is a constant fear in the back of my mind. Luckily, he's a very healthy boy and no unscheduled vet trips so far.

I like the idea of getting two kitties, so they can grow up together. :thumbsup

TubeTitans_SusieQ 07-07-2008 12:21 PM

NaughtyRob 07-07-2008 02:12 PM

bns666 07-07-2008 03:52 PM

sorry to hear that :(

Bill8 07-07-2008 05:13 PM

I understand completely.

It's been a hard couple of years for us as cat lovers - our favorite beloved male died at 17, our faithful tabby female died at 20, and we just lost a young male to a car days ago, and are still crushed.

The love of a pet is so pure.

shekinah 07-07-2008 05:49 PM

I love animals and I know how it feels.. Sorry for your lost.

KittyLix 07-07-2008 07:35 PM

One the worst days of my life was when I had to put my dog down.

I am sure your new kitty's are going to love their new home.

RIP Rufus... I'm sure he's having a blast in kitty heaven. :)

About 3 weeks ago I had to put my dog down... Was as big as a cow... Just got old and couldn't move/eat/drink or anything... :(
