Actually, jet lag is supposed to happen if you fly from NY to CA, not the other way around.

I beat it by never changing the time zone my internal clock is on.

Well you could stand on your head for a few hours...

I barely sleep so even flying to europe doesn't fuck with me too much.

No, jet lag comes from flying east. Flying west means that you go to sleep at 9 because your body thinks its midnight. Many people will have less problems just staying up later from flying west than flying east. Flying east means that you go to sleep at 3am because your body thinks it's midnight. It's harder to convince yourself to go to sleep earlier.

It helps to wear sunglasses until it's the wakeup time in the time zone you're traveling to, so your body doesn't try to wake up before then. Eat during the local hours, not your own...

Or you can try melatonin; they're basically natural sleeping pills. You're supposed to take them a few hours before you want to go to sleep :)

As Ava Knight said also

The cure is Melatonin! Take that stuff 20-30 min before it is time to go to sleep.

:thumbsup

Natural vitamin that helps regulate your sleep pattern.

What he said. My normal sleep schedule is so irregular that it doesn't even make a blip when I go to the West Coast.

Take a Xanax. Fall asleep before the plane even takes off and immediately adjust to the time zone once you land.

The first answer is almost always the best.

i always dont give myself much sleep before flights there and back. that way im sleeping on the flight and im nice and rested by the time i land.

kmanrox 07-06-2008 02:55 PM

a couple days before you go home start getting as close to the sleep hours at home.... and use sleeping pills to force yourself to sleep if you need to...

Drink lots of water and keep yourself hydrated - no coffee and caffeine..

Actually, being from the east coast, the first time I hit Vegas and got off the plane, I felt like someone had hit me with some uppers. I felt great man. It was like, "Oh wow...shit I got all this daytime left?!?! AWESOME!!" (No doubt, the oxygen they pump into the casino floor probably had something to do with it lol)

Coming back was a different story. Felt like I had been mugged by a hooker with the clap. Then again, I lost a brick of money...so maybe that was it too.

I dunno...I'm still going with cocaine. It's never let me down yet...well, that's what my brain keeps telling me anyway...right after all the 5am self loathing has passed.

DixieDash 07-06-2008 05:58 PM

I either get a good sleep before hand and drink some energy drinks or take some sleeping pills for the plane. Depends on flight length, usually I don't have a prob.
