Is it a problem for sponsor programs if i do this

If i tell people to join program x and if they do they will get free access to one of my own sites as a bonus so to say.

Nothing wrong with that right?

Dirty F 07-05-2008 05:23 PM

I know that telling them to cancel after sign up is illegal. And i wouldnt do that anyway as youre simply screwing over the program owners. But is it accepted to tell them "make sure you read the terms" or something like that.

Dirty F 07-05-2008 05:25 PM

Damn, gfy is slow tonight.

tical 07-05-2008 05:31 PM

i don't think that would be a problem to most sponsors, kind of a twist on an all access pass...

This isn't our official policy, because I honestly don't think this scenario is covered in our TOS.

But my thoughts would be that no, it would not be okay to give them a bonus for joining that was outside the control of the program.

What I'm thinking...and I might be disagreed with...is that if someone joins a program because of a condition (the bonus) that is outside the control of the program, then that opens the program up to chargebacks because of a third party's actions or lack of. (say you decided you didn't want to give free access after advertising that you would)

yahoo-xxx-girls.com 07-05-2008 05:42 PM

Dirty F, it does not sound very good if you do that and selena has a point.

marketsmart 07-05-2008 05:58 PM

yeah well what if i am offering a beastiality site as a free bounus.. :thumbsup

There is a gfy top advertiser that allows you to do that, specially if it's warez traffic, I won't mention the program though

Please tell us Aussie Rebel....

That's sort of an incentivized sale, some sponsors may allow it but i would say that its probably not liked by most sponsors, for the reason being these members aren't likely to recur for anything past the trial period.

By the way, wasn't this something that some child porn site owners tried to do for processing? They said join legitsite.com and send us a copy of the confirmation email and we'll give you access to our site.

I'm just pointing out the potential for problems by allowing this via the cp example i gave.

i bet this still goes on.. unfortunately its very difficult to police..

well, actually its easy to police if companies wrote scripts that detected member logins vs recurring membership months..

of course what company would want to do this... out of sight out of mind...

It's not that tough to police in my opinion. I mean each affiliate program SHOULD know where they are getting their traffic from through an affiliate. Unfortunately, there are programs out there that don't care where the traffic comes from, even if it involves CP.

Camco is talking about PlatinumShmucks.. but I don't think Dirty F is talking about the same thing...

bloggingseo 07-06-2008 02:56 AM

Hmmmmm interesting. I am sure you will find someone who wants your traffic no matter what even with this bonus/incentive idea. I've seen it done before but I personally wouldn't feel right running that on my own sites.
