I admit, I never expected this in a million years.

I actually rode a Ninja today. Gave a girl a ride on it too.

She didn't like it. I don't blame her.

Harley FTW.

I don't know . . . she probably wouldn't admit it if I did anyway. Maybe I will have her take a pic so I can see for myself.

Saw a new all-silver Harley VRSC last night - that is a badass looking bike (especially impressive when seeing it up close in person)...

Uh, look at the specs. They're fast.

No wheelie huh? Funny, a buddy of mine from high school would beg to differ, but he's dead.

He put the front tire of a ninja through the windshield of a car, while doing a wheelie, near full-throttle.

It was, needless to say, a closed casket.

eesh, bringing up a dead motorcyclist to prove a stupid point is lame

WarChild 07-04-2008 03:35 PM

Please, you rode an old shitty Ninja and you're trying to get a feel for sportsbikes from that experience?

That's kind of like driving a 92 Mustang 5.0 and saying you've driven a modern sportscar. :)

Ride a real sportsbike, you'll come to understand how damn slow hogs are.

tranza 07-04-2008 03:41 PM

saw one in Paris a couple of days ago, looked pretty good , but still prefer the traditional styling:thumbsup

My bike weighs in at 388 pounds, makes 178 hp and will do 80 MPH easily in first gear, stock. It's made for racing and not for comfort or cruising. You'll be hard pressed to find any hog that will even still be in the rearview mirror after a few minutes.

thanks, they're D&D fatcats with quiet baffles, only really loud at wide open throttle.

the holes i drilled myself for looks, eh.

warchild, my point is still the same, i ride 2 very fast motorcyles and one of em is a harley, i won't get into dyno #s and whose dick is thebiggest but

right on that you cannot see me in the rearview after a few minutes! keep the rubberside down man!

I don't want to get in to a pissing match either.

There's some simple facts that can't be overcome though when you compare a cruiser, any cruiser, to a pure sportbike.

Things like weight, aero dynamics, rider position, weight distribution, etc, etc. I suppose Harley could make a sportbike, but then, well, the comprassion is totally moot.

Baddog said he doesn't even think he could get the Ninja to wheelie. With all due respect, if you're a good rider (and I assume BD is), you can make any modern sportsbike pull the front wheel with the clutch. The newest bikes will easily do it on power alone. Christ, my bike will wheelie power only through most of its gears, not just the first one or two.

Cruisers are just a different style, they don't go as fast and they're not meant to.

Reminds me of that PINKS episode where the guy loses his Harley to an old Suzuki and is utterly shocked at being blown away. Makes me chuckle each time.

MaDalton 07-04-2008 04:23 PM

i'll get me one of those next time and i swear as long as we don't go on a racetrack i'll be always faster than all those harleys and rice bowls ;)

but as much as i enjoy driving 150 mph with my car, on a bike i hardly did more than 90. but i have always been driving enduro and i love the handling in the city

yahoo-xxx-girls.com 07-04-2008 04:46 PM

I have never rode a Ninja, however, I had met a few... So I am told... ^^

I'm a pretty tame rider myself these days. After a few near death experiences when I was younger, I had to quit riding for many years in the interest of self preservation. I picked it back up about 6 years ago, but I'm nowhere near as aggressive. All things considered, I probably should have bought a cruiser. :)

It was so embarrassing. I just went for a little ride with it. Came up to the main highway here, just as a guy on a Dyna Glide came blasting around the turn. Made me wish I had a full face helmet on.

What if I tell you the fastest I could get it to go was 70 MPH? Would that perhaps change your opinion?

Hahah, was it a Ninja 250 by any chance? That's a scooter in ninja clothes :P

sltr 07-04-2008 04:59 PM

having a sportbike that i've juiced up pretty good and a cruiser, i know of the differences, eh. there's always someone who has rode more, has a faster bike, more carbon fiber, knows more, etc. :pimp

it's funnier than this over at the ducati board and even funnier at the harley board.

but this style of scoot right here is next on my list, BADASS!

it's without a doubt the best you can get if you want a bike like that. and that since 20 years

the others are either too specialised (like Husqvarna or Husaberg) or too big and heavy (like the BMW F 650 GS)

i couldn't imagine how slow a ninja 250 is. probably not much faster than a moped. ive had a ninja 500 and a ninja 600, the 500 was slow as fuck. i ride sport bikes and i too would be embarrassed to ride a 250 ninja.

CDSmith 07-04-2008 08:58 PM

You could have told me it was a 250 ninja, ya big doof. :D

lol

The one my buddy went for his fatal wheelie ride on was a 600, late 80's model. Now, had you been on one of that size and hadn't been able to do a wheelie I'd have said there's something definitely wrong with the rider. :D

Feel free to have your own opinion on this, mine isn't about to change.

It's only lame if you don't get the point.

(point was: it's possible to do a wheelie with a ninja) (maybe not a 250 ninja though, with a 200 lb person riding it)

What about these guys with their Honda cruisers, 10 suitcases attached all over the place, and a stereo blasting music from 30 years ago, these aren't the kind of cruisers you're talking about I hope.

No, those are called touring bikes.
