Some of the comparisons the tour guides gave in that article were pretty hilarious.

Any private company operating a tour requires that its employees know the material and know it well... even though these private people are operating private enterprises, they are banking on history, something that is public. Requiring that they know basic history, something that is essential to their business, should not be a big deal. In fact, any legitimate tour guide should be happy that such a law is in place, to weed out the bad tour guides.

Humanity is doomed. Get what you can out of it while you can and checkout a rich man.

Praying off of stupidity is becoming increasingly easy, as it seems daily people are becoming more retarded.

What those tour guides fail to realize in their argument is that it isn't their job to spout opinion (free speech) to the people taking the tours. It is however, their job to spout historically accurate FACTS, thus the air is completely let out of their freedom of speech argument.

But, since anyone can sue anyone for anything in the USA these days, best of luck to them.

Hopefully they lose and their idiocy will be complete.

I think that it may be "okay" to share their opinion if they specifically state that it is their opinion. For example, in the Benjamin Franklin instance, they could simply state something like "it is my opinion that old Ben had 500 children, because...". To state it as fact is a different issue altogether.

Most history is not real facts but myths. However I agree that some quality control is needed, so the consumers can have a chance of not getting their head filled by total nonsense.

I worked in Russia for 10 years. I ran several companies with around 300 employee from the mid 90's to 05'. It's a sad world when i can get more done, more easily in a system thats in total chaos and work with more security there, than i can in the USA. Hiring people at all here is a liability. Having any employees at all in this country is a huge liability. Making money here is a liability. Success is a liability. In a county that is supposed to celebrate success and a free market, you get punished and are under constant attack by ambulance chasing attorneys or employees that want to sue you for discrimination because you shot down the "i want to talk around the office naked with a dildo hanging out my ass every friday" idea.

the funny thing is that things keep sliding further and further downhill. the lowest common denominator and the worst decision makers and the most incompetent and useless people get ever increasing power to tell you how to run your business.

it just gets worse. we have an idiot that will probably be president who has said nothing in the last year but "hope" and "change" and ranted against big business and talked about all the great taxes he will create to solve every social ill.

as i get older, i realize the pendulum swings, has swung and will swing. its fruitless to stand in front of it and try to change its direction... better to just side step it, get out of the way and find some happiness, however you can before you die.
