I need recommendations for a RELIABLE webhost.
 

I have a dedicated with Webair right now, and my sites have been going down a LOT lately - probably 3-4x a week at this point. It's at the point where even surfers are e-mailing me to bitch/alert me, and when I get on Webair's live help they can always get the sites back up pretty quickly (though this only applies, obviously, when I'm awake/online to catch the issue firsthand), but when I ask what's causing the issue, I either get a "I don't know"/"Can't say" or the person just stops responding completely.

Obviously, this shit doesn't fly when you're trying to make a living, so everyone: let me know who you host with - especially if they will move my sites for me. Refcodes are fine.

UPDATE: I'm in the midst of making galleries and now the site I was trying to work on is unavailable again. That was what, 20 minutes after I just talked to the live service guy and he got them back up and they're already shitting out again. AWESOME, Webair!

The sad thing is, these aren't even super high traffic websites or anything.

Seriously, what is the deal with all those "bad" hosts? I never had a problem with hosting(besides when I tried out dream host), I guess the best way to choose your provider is to do your own research and not ask on a board.

There's a hosting board that has all kind of reviews you could check it out but it might be biased as well.

Do they sell advertising? There is your answer.

Well yeah, you need to take things with a grain of salt.

When I chose my hosting co, I chose a brick and mortar co that I already knew and visited one of their data centers.


Not some online reseller operating out of his basement that I can't reach physically unless I take the plane.


But that's just me.

Today my server's hard drive shit out. I called Colo as soon as I found my server was down and Chris, who answered immediately, was already replacing the drive.

And, for the record, my sites are rarely (if ever) down. Colo is an amazing company.

At the four hour mark and still nothing is fixed. I'm more than a bit salty, especially after I straight up told the support guy I was talking to that if my websites weren't up soon, I would have to stop hosting with them. They must not give a shit.

I would gladly refer people to colo-cation.com without using a ref code because they are solid and reliable. Nothing against that list, but always be wary of people who preach "top notch" when using ref codes - the guy who promotes Dreamhost is a good example of this - he has openly admitted that he doesn't give a flying fuck who he fucks over by them signing up under his ref code - he knows Dreamhost is about a shit as it gets - but in his words "If there stupid enough to signup, I might as well cash in on it..."

That sounds like a familiar problem lately. I moved several months ago to www.techiemedia.com and I have not had 1 single hosting problem ever since. Also the prices are better but more important is the Support is by far the best in the biz. :2 cents::2 cents:
