[Vote] Do you recommend HP laptop? What about Dell and Toshiba?

Have used IBM, HP, Sony .. now time to get a new laptop, not sure what manufacturer I should go for.

Some people say, Dell is great when it comes to business computing and durability .. also, it create least troubles after purchase.

I am not unhappy with current HP, but its just kinda delicate lol ..

If you have any specific recommendation, push it.

I am looking for:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz - 2.24GHz
3-4GB RAM
15.5" display

rest doesn't matter much..

My HP laptop is awful. The fan is loud and it is hot. It is also too heavy.

My HP desktop died after less than a year.

I would never buy another HP and I wouldn't recommend one to anyone.

I like my Sony. I have heard a lot of good things about IBM/Lenovo laptops but I don't have personal experience with them.

Macbook Pro. I have one of those, a Dell and a Toshiba right now.

Don't recommend HP. They tend to have bloated and buggy software (drivers especially).

Dell is decent. I had a Dell I used for photography. Worked great. Small issues with the screen not coming back on and having to take the battery out and put it back in to completely kill everything and get it back.

I have a Toshiba tablet PC. The thing fucking sucks. The clock speed is higher, more memory than my Dell but it runs super SLOOOOOW. Extremely hot too. Not even doing anything and not being on for a while it will burn your leg.

I'm using an HP right now that is 2 years old and it has been a great workhorse for me, and I've beat it up and taken it all over the place travelling and really used it hard and it has been great for me. I just bought another HP last week, and it seems even tighter built.

I like how the HP Pavilions are priced great and they have all the ports I need and then some. The xpress card port is a great one to have with the new aircards.

Went to an HP VAR seminar the other day and they are making some great improvements with their machines.

As well, they are tightening up on customer service. If you have any problems with your HP hardware and the place you bought it from gives you even the slightest resistance, they want you to call them direct so THEY can handle it. 1-800-711-2884.

I would recommend getting a 2-3 year warranty on any laptop in any event. Shit happens.

My last few have been Dell. A laptop is a laptop, some have better features, some are more durable... I found that in laptops, the only thing that matters is service. I will only buy Dell XPS from now on. On site service can't be beat.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P205 and find it great and very fast. In comparison, my gf has a HP laptop and it has nothing but problems, over-heating, laptop sometimes turns off when power cord is unplugged from it, etc...
