A word about EPASSPORTE

I know there has been so many threads about how shitty epassporte is and their customer service, but this thread is different. Let me share my experience from a few days ago.

I spent almost $500 at Tiger Direct on some computer upgrades and when I logged into tigerdirect.com to check on my order status there was a message saying that something went wrong. I called them up and asked what's the deal... apparently they don't accept international cards, my bad should have known. Though this IS my first time ever not being able to use the virtual card with a merchant online.

I cancelled the order and the lady said that it would be like 3 days before my funds would clear and show back up in my account. Fuck that... first I had over $500 and now I don't... not cool.

So I called epassporte.com support. After about 20 minutes trying to spell out my user ID to the woman who was trying very hard to speak english, I finally got an answer as to when my funds are expected to become available. Apparently it can take up to 31 days, no fucking way. So I asked how to get it done sooner.

She said that I would have to contact the merchant and have them send a signed letter with the purchase date and amount. So I called tigerdirect back and asked them if they would do so, only I asked that they fax it for added speediness... I want my money!

They did so and I called back to epassporte to verify the reciept of the fax. I spoke to a guy this time and after all was said and done he told me it may still take up to 31 days. I was pissed.

With any hope, I kept checking my epass account and eventually I saw my money returned to my account. AWESOME!

It was all done in like 3 hours, not bad... much better than 31 days.

Thanks epass!!! Definately surprised after being told it would be so long... hell even the three days was a longshot in my opinion.

And I still have a $1 pending from Microsoft Live from like 2 weeks ago, but I don't care about that.

It really depends who you get .. I was having issues with something and someone else actually took over and went out of their way to help me with the problem.

Good for you, glad it turned out well. Never had an issue with them myself :thumbsup

31 BUSINESS days is normal for some banks on a refund. its amazing. they take it out faster than light travels, but to put it back? Ha.

Good for you man. Guess you were lucky.

Once I had the same issue but with ATM mashine. I haven't withdrawn the money but I saw that it was charged from my ePassporte. Better don't ask me how long it took before I resolve that issue.

I have yet to have any problems with ATM... knock on wood.

The problem is that is a debit card.
When a merchant authorize a card they have 30 days to settle the transaction and we must hold the money in case they settle it on the 30th day by getting a fax from the merchant we are ensured that they won't settle the transaction and we can drop the pending charge.

What makes no sense is Tiger Direct.... Not accepting this card, but yet they can charge it? This is very suspicious story

That is what I thought... like when the virtual card doesn't work on other sites it will just say there was a problem processing the card, and the charge never goes through.

Mike-al
What happens is that they authorize the card then decide not to accept it because its a international card but don't let us know to drop the authorization.
They never actually charged the card only authorized it for the amount.

Had the same thing happen to me with Newegg last year sometime. The fucked up thing is I had used epass to buy like 2200.00 worth of stuff less about a month before with no issues. I had to make them send I think 3 faxes before finally got the credit 5 days later. Was a pain in the ass lol But all was resolved at least.
