Well known as in to the masses (even none porn buyers) I'd say Jenna Jameson like it's been for quite some time.

I believe if you ask any normal porn surfer who the most well known female pornstar is, statistically they will say Jenna Jameson more than any other name. That may be because that's what they expect everyone else to think she is the biggest. If you ask them who they were cranking it to last night, that's an entirely different method to answering what I would consider a much more valuable question.
