lol okay that was good.

MetaMan 07-01-2008 08:36 AM

Martin i am one of those guys who does not change a good thing.

i use icq 5.1 and has always worked great for me, i have never had any problems.

i find with alot of newer programs these days that they are very bulky and have alot of unneeded additions.

http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=icq

thats what i suggest anyway.

Martin 07-01-2008 09:01 AM

Hey Meta, I tried that before(to install the later version from that site) and when I've installed it I get the must update to go forward pop up. It won't let me open Icq without installing the latest version. I was very happy just using 5.1 too.

HMMMMMMMM i have never had that problem :|

like i will get an "update icq" thing once and a while and i just choose "remind me" all the time. i have never had a force re install so im not to sure. :(

polish_aristocrat 07-01-2008 09:10 AM

same here, I get a mandatory update request, it is downloading components, but then it crashes during installation:

Error number: 0x80040707
Description: DLL function call crashed: MoveIt.SetGeoParam

setup will now terminate

MikesTraffic 07-01-2008 09:18 AM

baddog 07-01-2008 09:21 AM

I have 5.1 from that site, when you install it and run it the first time it asks you to update but it updates to a newer version of 5.1
At least it did 2 weeks ago when I last reinstalled.

Your third party platforms always work well until they upgrade. I can always tell when Atrium and others do upgrades because I get to thin out my contact list.

I checked google and it looked like some serious error in the registry but the error disappeared on its own after a few times trying..

looks like this is the first time the ICQ contacts are sorted alphabetically

Hell House Vic 07-01-2008 09:41 AM

Using Adium... I also got the same Bullshit message this morning: "(ICQ) Error: The client version you are using is too old. Please upgrade at http://pidgin.im"

Maybe if they had a way to save history without having to do it manually.

Ditto! It says, I won't be able to continue using ICQ if I won't install and download the latest version! Sucks! :disgust

I used to love 5.1 version and never wanted to install 6! :disgust

skrog 07-01-2008 12:11 PM

I was forced to upgrade today and lost 2 messages. :Oh crap

GrouchyAdmin 07-01-2008 12:18 PM

Here's what I did to make mine work.

Code:

[ICQVersion]
Build=0x17AB
ClientId=0x010A
ClientString=ICQ Client
Country=us
Lang=en
Major=0x0006
Minor=0x0000
Other=0x00007535
Point=0x0000

:pimp

ThumbLord 07-01-2008 12:46 PM

was out of ICQ the last 7 days had to install an old version 2003b or so and finally it worked again, lost all messages.

Manowar 07-01-2008 04:38 PM

CaveCreek_Russell 07-01-2008 04:47 PM

experiencing the same too!

brandonstills 07-01-2008 09:06 PM

I installed the ICQ client in Windows in a virtual machine. It fucking sucks. Have to turn off sound because of those obnoxious noises and animated ads all over the place. Can't wait until I can use Adium with it again.

NETbilling 07-01-2008 10:27 PM

I am using v2.6 of AdiumX now and it is working great so far

PersianKitty 07-01-2008 10:31 PM

2003b here..

no mandatory upgrade messages and no problems. I'm not upgrading either.
