Transfering my godaddy domain portfolio to another domain registrar [suggestions?]
I was on the way home from lunch this afternoon & happened to tune into a C-SPAN congressional hearing on a topic that interested me.
After a few minutes i was totally surprised to hear a Godaddy Executive chiming in on the subject at hand. Turns out she was a ex-prosecutor & so are many of her fellow colleagues at Godaddy. Lets just say she was taking on a something.....that was overzealous to say the least (i.e. stomping on the rights of american citizens)...and had nothing to do with her job description. I no longer believe with any confidence that Godaddy is even a "little bit" of a friend to the adult industry. So I have decided this is the last straw, i will be taking all 50-100 godaddy domains of mine & moving them next week. I have many more domains spread across other providers and i like it that way. Right now I am looking for the following: Competitive pricing & customer service to rival godaddy. Liberal values when it comes to protecting freedom of speech. A long record of service with zero problems arising to you as a client. A record of protecting their clients privacy. (as well as proxy-whois domain services) A legal overseas registrar with good U.S. processing relations would even be a plus......as i am not currently aware of many. Sometimes it seems the only way to protect our U.S. freedoms is to find them in another country, fucking pathetic. |
Moniker?
|
I am looking to do this also. There are some responses in my thread ( fucking-around-and-business-discussion/837953-bulk-domain-transfers.html ), seems most people are suggesting Moniker and Name Cheap.
|
I changed all my domains to namecheap around 6 months ago I would recommend them.
|
+1 for NameCheap........
|
go with Moniker... fantastic support :thumbsup
Bari always takes care of me... even when I'm stoned and ask her stupid questions... |
curious as i have never transferred domains before (to myself)
if they are all registered up until 2012 for example....that i assume will not carry over to namecheap will it? |

Moniker is a pain in the ass on many levels but I can get an email reply from someone within hours and get a problem fixed. Godaddy is the worst shit hole ever so anywhere you trasnfer your domains you will be looking up |
Don't rule out Fabulous.com

Also what country are they in & how to they handle bullshit consumer complaints etc. |

I'm surprised godaddy executives would publicly make comments that might be damaging, can you post a link or some quotes?
I've got almost everything with godaddy, and I was going to move the rest of mine to godaddy, just because they are big and I want to keep things all in one place, and I have never really had any problems with them at all.... really don't want to move but if they are saying things that are deserving of losing my business, then I might need to reconsider |

Godaddy has always given problem in adult. While they might not hunt out and target adult names specifically.. On the other hand if you ever have any complaints they are quick to drop the hammer on your names with little questions if it's an adult site.
The writing has been on the wall with godaddy for a few years now.. |

PR0s concerns are well warranted, because GoDaddy has a trackrecord of causing trouble for registrants of controversal domains, such as adult.
For those with such domains at GoDaddy, transferring out is the right move :thumbsup Ron |
Using moniker and being very satisfied.

I'll just cover a few of the things the idiot bitch at godaddy said (totally out of context) - "Any 12 year old can order enough Ecstasy to keep a party going all weekend" - - "I hate to overuse the world ch***d porn but i think its a good example when talking about this issue" - - "Any 12 year old can order oxycodone" - I started to think something was fucked up when she started taking a heavy slant against online pharmacies making wild accusations. THEN.... fortunately the chairman from Michigan pointed out the dumb slut was an ex prosecutor from California (in fact a white female drug prosecutor for the city of COMPTON) anyways I don't run a single online pharmacy, nor advertise one.....but these people are trying to push through a bill with mandatory minimum sentences not only for online doctors/advertisers/facilitators...but real life doctors who prescribe too much pain medication etc. all because of 1 dumb fucking kid who took too many vicodins in 2001 just another way to toss people in jail for no good reason :2 cents: |

The only explication I get from them is a cut/paste of the TOS. No dispute policy... just a dead domain. I am moving well over 1000 domains away from GoDaddy and I suggest anyone that makes online money in adult to do the same. GoDaddy will kill your domain without a second thought and will not give you a reason. Fuck GoDaddy. |
go daddy is alright for me.
|
don't forget parava. I have 300+ domains with them and 230 with godaddy. the rest are scattered like yours. :)

I'm with these guys: http://domains.aplus.net/
I have all my domains there, except a few that I bought off someone and are at godaddy - 10 domain names that at a random moment the other day, instead of redirecting to my server, pointed at a Plesk panel (funny, all my other 50+ domain names registered at aplus pointed at the correct server and my server has CPanel!) for 2-3 hours and when they replied to my question the day after, they went "You do not have any hosting account with us, the problem might have arisen at your host. You should ask them" - God knows how often this happens, I just happened to be working on that domain at the moment and the upload stopped. I really dislike GoDaddy, never have trusted them one bit. Regarding Aplus, have had domains since 2003 and the only problem I've had have been caused that due to a bounced payment the registration didn't go through with some nameservers and once the nameservers on three domain names not updating properly (all the rest worked), but when you contact them, they're really helpful. It took a while with the email ticket system, but if you're in the US you can call to their support center and I've heard it's an instant solution. |
I have been moving all my domains from godaddy to moniker for some time now.
I read the horror stories over at http://nodaddy.com/ and then when they made their new control panel that was the last push I needed. I dont think I've ever had the misfortune to use such a bloated, useless piece of crap like the godaddy control panel. |

GoDaddy has a moral agenda, and that for any "adult" domain owner should be worrisome. Just because you've been lucky so far doesn't mean you will be in the future. Why chance it when there are better, safer alternatives. Ron |
Why don't you just get me on ICQ instead of asking here?
|
I can wholeheartedly vouch for Fabulous.com. I have a few hundred domains with them (had ±1500). They're the absolute benchmark when it comes to service and customer support, and that applies to way outside of the domain industry.
They're based in Brisbane, Australia. Where Moniker makes mistakes as if it's their job to (search for a thread by me made a few months ago) and ignores support requests as if it's not their job to, Fabulous.com always courteously replies within 15 mins, regardless of the time of day. Whenever I email my Fabulous.com account representative it's to thank him for his and his colleagues' kindness and support, and that's telling. |
The only thing you may miss at Fabulous.com is whois protection
|
I could never stand GoDaddy. I've always used eNom for my domains. They provide great DNS hosting.

Much of my adult domains are with them. |
I recommend Moniker

Most of webmasters uses or namecheap or moniker. Both are good and both have good support. But if you have A LOT of domains, let's say 1000 domains, then i suggest you to become your own register.Today any fool can become domain resseler. You can even get ICANN accredation with little effort. Also one advantage of being resseler is ability to take domain which is in drop period(usualy when domain expire you need to wait 30 days after that to take domain,if you are resseler then you can take in that period already)
|
1000 domains is nothing - more like 50,000+ domains is what it takes to make becoming ICANN accredited worth the expense and hassles.

ok how fucking long does it take for paypal $ to show up in a namecheap account lol
this shit should be instant!!! laaaaaame |
Moniker is pissing me off. Can't wait for my transfer to go through, if it goes through.
Starting to have my doubts. |
Most of my adult domains are with Namecheap. Have been for 8 years now.
No complaints. |

Can you call them on the phone and post back here what they tell you? There has to be some reason they took this extreme measure. I'm not calling you out or anything, but this is very typical of GoDaddy horror stories. When people tell them they are almost always incomplete. The few start to finish stories I've read about really weren't that big of a deal, or it's something the webmaster brought upon himself. I have over 100 domains with them. Not one single problem. |
