Laptop recomendations, INTEL only

I need a lappy that I never intend to use as a lappy. Therefore weight and monitor do not matter. My boss probably wont buy the best processor out. Whats 3rd best Intel lappy cpu now? I want a faster hd, no 5400 shit. Battery life is not a concern as it will be docked 24/7. I want the dock to allow DUAL MONITORS. Can lappys do this? I want it. 4GB of ram naturally. How much are docks? I'll need two.

why not get a desktop then?

Play by the rules turd. No Macs, no AMD, nothing other than laptops.

really for you want and it being docked 24x7 why the hell not a desktop? More then likely you will get more bang for your buck that way. Most laptops will only come with a 5400 rpm drive unless you buy an upgraded one.

I fucking hate gfy at times.

geedub 06-28-2008 07:49 PM

for real. 24/7 dock = desktop. laptops just dont have the nuts unless you want to dump 3k and if it aint gunna move anyways, get the bang for your buck..

may be some people don't love the ease desktop offers .. I hate to use laptops unless I am on the go.

In case you haven't used desktop in a while, give it a try .. you'll love it. why stick with 4GB RAM? why stick with slower HDD? why stick with max 17" monitor?

John. 06-28-2008 08:06 PM

I went for this baby here http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/Acer_Asp...02/version.asp (I already have a relation of his!), but then decided to go for a desktop instead and almost paid for a weeks holiday with the cash I saved. People are trying to steer you towards a desktop for a valid reason you know! I will probably take the plunge and re-visit the whole super-laptop thing in a few months and will more than likely go for that machine I linked to above, but honestly, unless you are absolutely minted and are saving on tax by spending $3,000+ on a machine, you really should be looking at desktops.

And they are faster than Windows machines too.

Sid70 06-28-2008 10:53 PM

okay, let em say that the most related answer to your question would be a 17" Asus, add more money and get a Vaio 2.0 to 2,4 processor.
