No more recurring with epoch and Switch / Maestro cards ?

Quote:

Maestro (in some cases formerly referred to as Switch) is MasterCard International's lead debit brand offering over *540 million cardholders secure and convenient access to their deposit accounts. It is issued in over 100 countries. Epoch began accepting Switch/Maestro transactions in 2005 providing international surfers an additional payment option and increasing sales for our clients.
Epoch Response
To continue to remain compliant with all card association rules, Epoch will no longer support recurring transactions for Maestro. Any recurring members being billed via Maestro will not be rebilled after June 30th, 2008.

Anyone know what % of sales are Switch / Maestro cards ?

Switch / Maestro cards are older cards, which MasterCard International is currently replaceing with MasterCard logo cards. Untill MasterCard replaces all these cards, which is going to take years, we have lost a major pool of potential new/old customers.

People running shopping carts or one time purchases should be ok.

The percentage of sales, depends on your customer base/traffic. While some will post that it is minor amount, you are still talking about 540 million potential new customers which you will only be able to bill on a one time baisis.

This is going to hurt.
